“Normally, young people sit on a panel to share their lived experiences, and then their role ends. But we kept youth at the center of the Summit, engaging and contributing in a variety of ways.” Find out how a youth-led dialogue and partnership paved the way for the first interagency White House Youth Policy Summit, where 90 young people and seven federal agencies discussed policy solutions to empower young individuals: https://lnkd.in/dwVXZy6f Supported by the Funders for Adolescent Science Translation (FAST): Annie E. Hopelab's Statement on the Shooting at Former President Trump’s Rally: "Our hearts go out to the victims and their families who were injured or lost their lives on Saturday. The increase in violence in our political process over the last decade is unacceptable and we must all denounce such behavior and those who encourage it. Violence has no place in our democracy nor in any aspect of American society. This is a moment for Americans of all political affiliations to come together and demand better from our political system and one other. "Minutes after the shooting happened, the mis- and disinformation online was rampant. We encourage everyone to be aware of what they are consuming and sharing online so as to not spread false or incendiary information. "At times like these, we are reminded of the trauma and overall mental impact gun violence has on a large percentage of our population. This is especially true for young people, for whom it is linked to an increased risk for a number of mental health disorders. "In the days, weeks, and months ahead, we must continue to turn to one another for support. To be in community during difficult moments like these and work together for a future free from violence and political discord."

Congratulations to the Lemonada Media team on Mental Health America's 2024 Media Award for the I Need to Ask You Something podcast! 🎉
Therapists, we are the proud recipients of the 2024 Media Award! Thank you, Mental Health America! We deeply appreciate your recognition of the incredible contributions from so many: the parents and young adults who shared their stories on "I Need To Ask You Something," the young people who shaped the show, the Lemonada Media team, our partners, and the visionary team at The Jed Foundation (JED)! Creating something new can be daunting, yet the young individuals on our show bravely showed vulnerability and embraced change. Their pursuit of a better, healthier, and more authentic life filled us with hope and inspired our creative energy alongside theirs. Honestly, from development through production to the final product, this podcast exemplifies the healing power of community—and the remarkable power of Gen Z! Thank you to the young people who continue to make conversations about mental health more accessible! I hope that future projects will continue to amplify youth mental health voices and foster constructive dialogues across generations and cultures. If you haven't yet tuned in to the (now) award-winning podcast, "I Need To Ask You Something," you can find it on all major podcast platforms! Congratulations to all the award recipients, we're proud to be among you! See you at the conference in September!
