“Queertopia has created a space to dream and BE, where our Queer communities can build, even for a moment a blueprint for an innovative and inclusive ecosystem for Queer communities by Queer communities.” – Other Village People, Youth To The Front Fund (YTTFF) “The Creatives” Frontliners, 2023 Through YTTFF, We Are Family Foundation funds young creatives worldwide who leverage their talents, skills, and passion to tackle systemic issues, much like the initiatives below: 1. Born out of the necessity for inclusive social spaces for LGBTQIAP2S+ individuals, Other Village People curates experiences that foster liberation and authenticity within those communities. Their initiative, Queertopia, is an immersive festival that creates a space for celebration, connection and the expression of true selves. 2. Minor Act’s Unexpected Song Social Media Platform revolves around establishing a sustainable “circular creative economy” to empower marginalized artists in Cambodia through advocacy for cultural rights. 3. Unapologetic Magazine is a creative platform highlighting Ireland's diverse cultural richness, aiming to establish an inclusive space, akin to "meitheal" or "harambee," where academics, activists, and artists collaborate to amplify underrepresented voices and drive social change. “Fat folx face a unique set of challenges and ‘lose weight’ is far from being the solution to these problems. To me, the answer is community.” – Hemakshi Huge congratulations to WAFF Creatives queerbeat on publishing their first youth group essay! This powerful piece delves into the intersections of fatness, queerness, and disability, emphasizing how these identities shape experiences and perceptions. The essay, penned by writer Hemakshi, sheds light on these intersections, challenging societal norms and embracing all aspects of identity.
