Our energy grid is expected to see skyrocketing load demand, with data center power demand in the US alone on track to double from 2022 levels by 2030 (McKinsey). Meeting this demand with clean power and existing infrastructure will become increasingly difficult. Grid Enhancing Technologies (GETs) are hardware and software solutions that are deployed within existing transmission systems to help increase capacity, flexibility, and efficiency of power transfer. These GETs technologies have the potential of addressing the over $21B in estimated annual congestion cost for consumers. Powerhouse has mapped the GETs landscape in order to provide visibility to the different focus areas and highlight the major players in the field. We've just wrapped up an incredible experience at the Free Electrons Program Bootcamp in Madrid, and I'm thrilled to share our journey. Over the last three days, we've had the pleasure of meeting 29 innovative startups from around the globe and pitched our solutions to 7 utility partners. Set amidst the vibrant city of Madrid, this event was gloriously hosted by EDP and Innovation@edp and flawlessly executed by the dynamic Free Electrons Program team. The collaboration opportunities it presented were invaluable, as we discussed potential pilot demonstrations with utility partners that aim to make our planet cleaner, safer, and ensure a resilient and reliable grid.
