Three more green mini grid developers financed by CEI Africa! In addition to the $5.6M in combined RBF grant funding provided to Kudura Power East Africa Ltd, (#Kenya) OnePower (#Benin) and Equatorial Power Ltd. (#DRC) each of these developers has been approved for CEI Africa's unique Forgivable Loan product, highly concessional debt to pre-finance equipment purchases. The developers are also receiving a variety of funded Technical Assistance support encompassing environmental assessment, financial management and gender lens investing. The projects may also receive project construction financing from our Crowdlending Window, in collaboration with crowdlender partners. Our trailblazing "one stop shop" for financing green mini grids is in full blown action! CEI Africa is managed by a consortium of Triple Jump, Persistent and GreenMax Capital Group with funding from KfW and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation Kudos to our fabulous CEI Africa team across GreenMax, Persistent and Triple Jump for closing these impactful transactions. #offgridenergy #energyaccess #minigrids #financing #Africa Emily Lundberg

GreenMax Capital Group -- fund manager for clean energy and E-Mobility in emerging markets of Africa and Latin America/Caribbean
Thrilled to share the latest CEI Africa video, which illustrates the impact the mini grid developers we are financing are having in boosting livelihoods across rural communities in Mali. You can also hear from our funders, KfW and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation why they've chosen to support CEI Africa. Gratitude to the communities which let us peak into their local enterprises to see how electricity supply is generating income for their businesses. And thanks and admiration for our grantees in Mali: Africa GreenTec, ACCESS.SA and WeLightAfrica. CEI Africa, managed by a consortium of Triple Jump Persistent and GreenMax Capital Group offers a "one-stop-shop" for financing green mini grids and Productive Uses of Energy, combining RBF and Outcomes based grants, concessional debt, junior and senior debt in collaboration with crowd-lenders and Technical Assistance, under a single umbrella with integrated intake and due diligence processes. So far, we have committed funds to support over 30,000 new connections across Mali, Benin, DRC and Kenya. Kudos to the entire CEI Africa team for the hard work and successes to date! #offgridenergy, #minigrids, #energyaccess, #productiveuseofenergy, #financing, #Africa Gera Voorrips Sascha Huijsman Lara Sturion Jan-Henrik Kuhlmann Mark Van Doesburgh Jessica Heller Ifechukwude Uwajeh Daniel Kitwa, FCCA @Shelmith Theuri, Kokou LAGASSOU, Jeff Felten, Wang'oe Robert, Cynthia Opakas, FCIArb, Lucy M.waura, Jossart Zozo, Audrey A. GreenMax Capital Group -- fund manager for clean energy and E-Mobility in emerging markets of Africa and Latin America/Caribbean
Last month our GreenMax Capital Group team in Nairobi hosted the remarkable “Green Drivers” association. This is a group of initially 10 Uber taxi drivers who have fully commited themselves to a #netzero future by driving only EVs. As an association they rent Nissan Leaf first generation EVs from KNIGHTS ENERGY KE under a model where they are all jointly and severally responsible for the rental payments. The 100km short range of these vehicles combined with the limited number of charging stations is a big problem for these drivers as they lose 4-5 hours of working time each day waiting in line and charging up. It means that the economic advantages of driving electric are severely eroded for them. Yet these guys remain 1000% committed to #emobility. They are eager to upgrade to EVs that have 350-400km range, are large enough to qualify for Uber “Comfort” status and are robust enough to last 5 years+ driving on Nairobi roads. This smart team has on their own organized a debt facility for the association to borrow from a local bank on very attractive terms — under the same innovative joint and several liability model. What’s holding them up is supply! They haven’t found a supplier that can deliver 10 EVs which meet the not unreasonable specs highlighted above. Anyone out there with a supply chain to fulfill this order please get in touch with us. GreenMax Capital Group’s GreenShift Africa facility can offer a trade finance solution to enable this transaction. #emobility #Kenya #electrictaxis #cleantransportation #financialinclusion #tradefinance Emily Lundberg David Ekabouma Sylviah Mwaura

Join the Revolution in Sustainable Transport! A decade ago, securing financing as a delivery rider was nearly impossible. Traditional banks operated within rigid frameworks, making it challenging, especially for young individuals and women, to access favorable terms. Without collateral or a bankable financial history, students and unemployed youth faced insurmountable barriers. But today, the landscape has shifted. Financial institutions have a golden opportunity to tap into the potential of this dynamic demographic by embracing innovative financing models, particularly in emerging markets like eMobility. Here at eWAKA Mobility Limited, we're witnessing firsthand how young people and women are spearheading the transition to sustainable transport. Our riders enjoy a staggering 39% higher take-home pay compared to traditional ICE bike riders. This statistic underscores their capacity for ownership and financial responsibility. Yet, despite these promising indicators, financial institutions remain hesitant, citing perceived risks associated with this burgeoning industry. However, this hesitation presents an unparalleled opportunity for those willing to seize it. The window of opportunity is rapidly closing, and early adopters stand to reap the greatest rewards. At eWAKA Mobility Limited, we've already unlocked the potential of this space, and we're eager to collaborate with like-minded partners who share our vision and are ready to embrace this exciting opportunity. If you're ready to be part of the future of sustainable transport and are bold enough to take the leap, let's connect. Together, we can drive meaningful change and reshape the landscape of urban mobility for generations to come. #SustainableTransport #Innovation #Finance #eMobility #Lastmile #Opportunity 🌍🛵
