The Giant family is proud to include Ricardo, our Non-Perishable Manager and a U.S. Army Veteran, who proudly served for 11 years. Every year in the military, he looked forward to the special meal of T-bone steak, corn on the cob, baked potato, and lobster tail on the 4th of July. Now, he shares this tradition and his stories with his son. For Ricardo, the holiday is about celebrating Independence Day and connecting with others in his community. And what better way to celebrate than over a delicious meal?

We are thrilled to announce that five of our women associates at Giant Food have been recognized with the prestigious Women of Influence in the Food Industry award by the Shelby-Griffin Report by The Shelby Report. Congratulations to Adrienne Evans, Cindy Sacha, Veronica Sorto, Sherry Teycer, and Heather Wade for their exceptional dedication, professionalism, and leadership skills. In addition, we are proud to celebrate four of our associates who have won The Top Women in Grocery (TWIG) award by Progressive Grocer. What an incredible weekend at the Giant National Capital Barbecue Battle! Giant Food was proud to be the title sponsor for the ninth year in a row, and we were thrilled to welcome thousands of our neighbors to celebrate summer with good food, music, and fun. This year, we increased our footprint and expanded from nine to 12 blocks, showcasing the impressive impact of BBQ Battle.  Over the two-day event, guests saw over 40 Competition BBQ Teams and the USO Military Chef Cookoff live, watched over 30 bands and performances, and sampled over 100 products. We also had the opportunity to support meaningful causes by partnering with the USO Mid-Atlantic, Capital Area Food Bank, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the National Capital Area. In partnership with the National Pork Board, we donated over 54,000 pounds of pork to the Capital Area Food Bank. Additionally, we celebrated the one-year anniversary of our Ben's Chili Bowl Partnership and recognized the talented winners of the Virginia Ali Scholarship as part of the Pepsi Future Chef Competition. Congratulations are in order for the Giant associates who drove their teams to impressive finishes in the BBQ competition! Team Disruption, led by Rick Manzi and Sue Manzi, was crowned 2024 Giant Steak Grand Champions and placed second in the chicken category among five top-10 finishes. Meanwhile, Team Meat Coma, led by Store 363 Produce Manager Shawn Overbey and his wife Amy, placed first in the Impossible Foods category among their four top-10 finishes. We would also like to give a special shout-out to our participants, vendors, community partners, and Giant associates who helped make this event a huge success. We can't wait to see you all at the 33rd Annual Giant National Capital Barbecue Battle on June 21 & 22, 2025, for another unforgettable celebration of community, food, and fun! 🎉

We are thrilled to announce the grand reopening of our remodeled store in Glen Burnie, Maryland, on 7940 Crain Highway! It was an honor to celebrate this special occasion with our wonderful community and dedicated associates. We were delighted to have our long-time customer, Cathy, share her experience of nearly 49 years of shopping with us! Her loyalty and kind words reminded us why we do what we do. The ceremony also featured the recognition of three extraordinary associates who truly embody our core values. Johnny, Willie, and Deborah's exceptional dedication and service during the remodeling process are a testament to their commitment to our customers and the community. As a special treat, we're thrilled to have 92-year-old "Shadow" the clown, who was at the store's first remodel in 1982. Jack aka "Shadow" and his team entertained the kids with balloon animals and hats! A big thank you to everyone who joined us for this celebration. Your support means the world to us, and we're excited to continue serving you with an even better shopping experience at Giant in Glen Burnie! 💜

It’s summertime, and at Giant, that doesn’t just mean good food and good weather—it means it’s almost time for our 32nd Annual BBQ Battle! Last week we kicked off the summer with an 80s-Olympics-themed office party! The event was a hit with everyone showing up in their 80s gear. The highlight of the day was the surprise performance by the incredible drag queen, Shi-Queeta Lee! We also want to give a big shoutout to all the associates, vendors, and community partners who help make BBQ Battle happen! Huge appreciation to all the volunteers who represented Giant Food and our PRIDE Business Resource Group (BRG) at the 2024 Capital Pride Parade and festival this year. It was incredible to see dozens of our associates volunteering and marching with us. We had an amazing time keeping the parade-goers refreshed with ice-cold water and fun, squishy fruit! Although we honor PRIDE every day, coming together in June for the parade and celebration holds a special place in our hearts. Additionally, we are thrilled to have joined Delaware Pride for their festival, furthering our support for the LGBTQ+ community. Giant Food had another special day where we celebrated the grand reopening of our redeveloped store in Baltimore, Maryland, located at 4622 Wilkens Ave! The store features enhanced amenities, a full-service pharmacy, and more through 10,000 additional square feet added to the store. For the occasion, we highlighted the special items sold in our store from a partnership with Jimmy's Famous Seafood and OLD BAY®. We surprised our community partner, USO Mid-Atlantic with a Jimmy's Famous Seafood Celebration for one of the local military bases! We also celebrated a grand reopening of our Rockville, MD store at 12051 Rockville Pike! We honored three amazing associates who went above and beyond during the store’s remodel process, alongside one of the store's long-time customers, David, who helped us cut the ribbon and recently celebrated his 98th birthday! Our new and improved stores offer expanded departments and a convenient one-stop shopping experience. We can't wait to serve the local community with even more convenience and value than before! #GrandReopening #GiantFood
