ACWORTH, GA (July 24, 2024) – The nursing program at Chattahoochee Technical College has been ranked as Georgia’s top nursing program by RegisteredNursing.org. The Chattahoochee Tech nursing program achieved the state’s 2024 number one ranking with a top score of 98.22, followed by the University of North Georgia, scoring 96.53, and Kennesaw State University, scoring 96.47. The other top 20 schools ranked by RegisteredNursing.org included Southeastern Technical College, Georgia College, Reinhardt University, and Emory University. “This top ranking demonstrates our faculty’s hard work and pride in preparing Chattahoochee Tech students to become outstanding nurses,” said Dean of Nursing Claudia Grooms, Ed.D.,MSN, RN. “Our graduates are passing nursing board exams on the first attempt, and they are highly sought by employers for their professional and practical skillsets.” Continue reading at the link below: https://lnkd.in/e_664DSF #pressrelease

CANTON, GA (July 26, 2024) – Highland Rivers Behavioral Health is partnering with GMC - Georgia Military College to enhance educational opportunities and career advancement for Highland Rivers employees through the GMC Partners Network. Through this collaboration, Highland Rivers will offer tuition reimbursement to eligible employees interested in furthering their education through GMC in-seat or online. Highland Rivers Behavioral Health, one of Georgia’s largest public behavioral health providers, serves 13 counties in northwest Georgia including Cherokee County. It has a workforce of over 900 professionals and provides comprehensive treatment, support and recovery services for adults, youth, families and veterans affected by mental health disorders, substance use disorders and intellectual developmental disabilities. The tuition reimbursement partnership is designed to support Highland Rivers employees who wish to pursue higher education at Georgia Military College to advance their education and career opportunities within the agency. The Grand Opening weekend will be on Friday, August 16, and Saturday, August 17, from 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 2864 East Cherokee Drive, Suite F, in Canton. The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will take place on August 16 at 10 a.m. Flourish Café embodies the organization's mission by creating "A Place to Gather and Grow" for our friends with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Cherokee County. CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA (July 22, 2024) – Transportation projects in Cherokee County received a funding boost as part of a $1.5 billion investment in transportation statewide. The Georgia Department of Transportation announced selected projects last week for funding infusion from Gov. Brian Kemp and the Georgia Legislature’s approval of an amendment to the FY2024 state budget. Projects in Cherokee County that will be catapulted forward from their initial timeframe include improvements to Highway 140 (Cherokee and Fulton counties), the Ball Ground Bypass and improvements to the Cherokee County Regional Airport. “Cherokee County residents and commuters have been waiting for many years for improvements to the heavily traveled Highway 140, and this infusion of funding from the state for design services moves this project closer to being completed,” said Chairman Harry Johnston. “I and the Board of Commissioners appreciate the Georgia Department of Transporation Board, our local legislative delegation and Gov. CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA (July 22, 2024) – Cherokee County’s Communications Division earned three national awards during the National Association of Counties (NACo) conference held earlier this month. The National Association of County Information Officers (NACIO), the communicators organization within NACo, announced the winners of the 2024 Awards of Excellence following its business meeting July 13 at the conference. “I would like to congratulate our outstanding Communications team for once again being nationally recognized for the excellent work they are doing to keep Cherokee residents informed,” said County Manager Geoff Morton. NACIO received more than 200 submissions from the across the country. The County’s Communications Division earned Best of Category for its 2023 Annual Report. The annual report is developed in the last 60 days of each calendar year in preparation for distribution at the annual State of the County event. Communications Director Erika Neldner manages the project and works with agency directors, staff and elected officials including the Sheriff, District Attorney, Solicitor-General, Tax Commissioner, Coroner and Courts to gather statistical data and package it in an easy-to-read format.
