WOODSTOCK, GA (July 9, 2024) – The Cherokee Office of Economic Development (COED) awarded over $69,000 in grants to the fourteen graduates from the second LaunchPad Bootcamp Series class. The second LaunchPad cohort kicked off on April 16 with fourteen participants. The free 4-week series comes as a partnership between COED and Kennesaw State University’s HatchBridge Incubator. It is designed to guide Cherokee’s emerging entrepreneurs in launching their business idea or new product to help them grow in the community. During the ceremony 2023-24 President Francisco Lozano officially passed the gavel to incoming 2024-25 President Marcie Smith. Chattahoochee Technical College welcomed business leader Ford Thigpen as the new chair of its Board of Directors while honoring outgoing Board Chair Debbie Underkoffler at a recent meeting of the board. Outgoing board members Mark Haney and Stevan Crew also were commended for their many years of service. The Chattahoochee Tech Board of Directors is an advisory board composed of members who were nominated by area industry and community leaders, and approved by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG). Board members fulfill important roles as advocates within the community on issues of importance involving the college and the local workforce. A little earlier than expected but along with the cover reveal, I can let it slip that “No Water, No Life” is my contribution to the summer issue. I was in total shock to learn it became the cover story and I’m so grateful to Jaye G. for the opportunities she’s given me. I’ll likely remain in shock for the duration of 2024.
