Jessica Glorius-Dangelo AIA, LEED AP BD C, WELL AP, LFA is constantly striving to improve her knowledge in sustainable practices to better herself and the Sustainability Team at MA Design. We are excited to share that she has received the SITES AP accreditation! SITES AP is the professional credential for the The Sustainable SITES Initiative and is focused on everything around the building and addresses anything from "the building skin outward." It prioritizes a “protecting, restoring, and generating” mindset when considering site-wide design strategies, and careful consideration of the construction impacts on the site and ecosystems. Jess is the first in our firm to achieve this designation and hopes to inspire others to learn more about it. Way to go Jess! 👏🌎🌱

At MA Design, we believe that investing in our people is key to our success. That's why we created MA University, a unique series dedicated to fostering continuous learning, collaboration, and innovation. 📚 Our monthly MA University sessions are designed to enhance our team's skills and nurture an innovative mindset. This week, we focused on the crucial topic of feedback and creating psychological safety within our teams. 🔑 Feedback is essential for growth, but it can be challenging to give and receive. Our latest session provided invaluable insights on creating the right environment to encourage constructive and beneficial feedback. By focusing on psychological safety, we aim to make our teams feel secure and supported when sharing and receiving feedback. Thanks to Andrew Kingery of The White Stone Consulting Group for leading our discussion. Through continuous education opportunities like MA University we seek to create a culture where continuous learning and collaboration thrive. How does your team create a safe space for giving and receiving feedback?

Please join us in congratulating Ben Paulus on becoming a registered architect! Ben is a Project Coordinator in our Cincinnati office working as an important team member on projects such as the industrial buildings for IDI Logistics at Rickenbacker and the Sofia Apartments and Clubhouse in Florida. "For me, becoming a registered architect means that I am taking the next step in my career. Personally, I set a goal in undergrad that I wanted to be a registered architect soon after I finished graduate school, and I am proud to have accomplished that. While I still have a lot to learn, I know I am heading in the right direction."

MA Design understands how vital it is to keep healthcare operations running during a renovation project. We work directly with our clients and construction partners to determine a phasing plan that allows the hospital to remain open while the project is ongoing. At OhioHealth's Berger Hospital, our healthcare team designed a multi-phase Emergency Department renovation that allowed the ED to remain operational 24/7 throughout construction. This project had multiple complexities including previous additions and alterations to the space, in addition to other enabling projects to move departments and create a new entry to improve the overall campus flow. The completely renovated ED features 16 all-new private patient rooms, two triage rooms, one large resuscitation room, and a new location and space for their outpatient services. We enjoyed collaborating with our friends and partners at HAWA Engineers to design their innovative new office, celebrating their staff and creating a welcoming work environment. With over 50 years of service, HAWA's new space reflects their family-centric culture and core values of Service, Quality, Commitment, Leadership, and Collaboration. A key challenge was transitioning from private offices to open office areas. By maximizing natural light and fostering team connections, we created a dynamic environment with workstations for focused tasks, as well as accessible phone and huddle rooms for privacy. A special touchdown space near leadership offices was also included to support mentorship and inspire younger staff. Learn more about how HAWA's new office embodies their legacy and forward-thinking spirit on our website - https://loom.ly/eE3xzvM

Congratulations to Zach Stewart on becoming a Registered Architect! Zach is part of our Multifamily Residential Studio and has played a vital role in projects such as the Jones Heel Redevelopment and the Golden Bear Mixed-Use Development. When asked his thoughts on the licensure process, he said, "Personally, I think anyone can get licensed if they put their mind to it. I think everyone has the skills to do it. I don't want to undersell how hard and time consuming the process is, but licensure shouldn't be viewed as an impossible task. It just takes focus. I encourage anyone thinking about it to try it. I'll be here to cheer you on!"
