This week, our Chattanooga campus welcomed therapy dogs from Love on A Leash, a national volunteer organization that provides pet therapy in their local communities. Once again, we’re proud to join forces with hundreds of volunteers from numerous local companies to support community partners for the United Way of Southern Maine's annual Day of Action. Our newest Professional Development Program team (PDPs) packed 150 bags with nutritious items to supplement kids' meals for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine. Absence Operations leaders packed 175 STEAM kits and prepped materials for the Battle of the Arts summer camp for Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer in Chattanooga. Our teammates from the finance department volunteered at the Chambliss Center for Children helping with indoor and outdoor upkeep needs. Our Platform Partnerships team in Columbia packed supplies for Transitions Homeless Center and Boys and Girls Club of the Midlands

Our Generosity in July campaign is an opportunity to support Unum Group community partners during a critical time of need. This year, we're supporting our community partners who help older adults (age 65+) stay active and independent. Throughout July, #TeamUnum will spread the #CaringSpirit and build stronger communities, one act of service at a time. Southern Maine Agency On Aging provides vital programs for older adults and caregivers in our region, including Meals on Wheels, Medicare counseling, and case management services for individuals of the greatest social and economic need.

Showing our #CaringSpirit in our communities is central to who we are as a company. Here’s a rundown of what we’ve been up to lately: Once again, Unum Group partnered with Rebuilding Together Atlanta, and 15 volunteers from the Atlanta office helped a 30-year U.S. Army Veteran with landscaping, exterior painting projects, and more to help her age safely in her home. For more than twenty years, we’ve been a proud partner of Special Olympics Maine, thanks to financial support and dedicated volunteerism from our employees. Recently, our employees spent the weekend volunteering at the games. We rolled up our sleeves to serve as guest chefs at the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Portland, Maine and cooked a meal for the 20 residents. Employees from our finance team supported Lincoln Middle School in Portland with some spring clean-up projects. The team enjoyed a nice day doing mulch bed clean-up and perennial pruning. In Michigan, we served lunch to clients of the Capuchin Soup Kitchen with a warm smile and caring spirit. Employees gathered in Beaver Creek, Colorado, and helped Access Unbound with crucial upgrades to The Community Gardens, making it an inviting place for people with disabilities and senior citizens to gather, share, garden, and relax. #ColonialLifeCares
