Today we celebrate one of our long-standing corporate partners and offer a big Detroit-style "THANK YOU" to Buddy's Pizza! The Buddy's leadership team visited Earthworks Urban Farm, a program of the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, to deliver a check for more than $120,000 that directly to support programs like Earthworks. The funds were raised April 29 at the 48th Annual Slice for Life fundraiser, where a portion of every meal at all 23 Buddy's locations supported the Capuchin Soup Kitchen. The 2024 Slice for Life broke an all-time record! We are incredibly grateful for our corporate partners.

We had the privilege of participating in a meeting this week organized by the Detroit Economic Club. We extend our gratitude to Jerry Norcia and DTE Energy for their investment in our shared community and their support towards energy assistance for those in need. Just like you, we understand the significance of bridging equity gaps and actively striving to end the cycle of poverty. Additionally, we'd like to express our appreciation to Sandy Pierce and Jeff Donofrio from Business Leaders for Michigan for leading this consequential discussion. It was truly an excellent meeting!

#DailyBriefing: Br. Gary was interviewed by Nushrat Rahman for this story on food insecurity and increased need in today's Detroit Free Press. We have seen a steady increase throughout 2023 in the number of guests needing a meal at our two meal sites, as well as families and individuals needing emergency assistance, food pantry items and clothing at our Capuchin Services Center. Thank you to the many individual and corporate benefactors and volunteers who give so generously to support those on the margins. #gratitude #generosity #communitysupport #foodinsecurity #detroit

UPDATE on the Capuchin Christmas Cheer Drive currently being hosted at our Capuchin Services Center! As you may know, between now and November 30, the Capuchins are asking for donations of $50 and $25 physical gift cards from Meijer or Target to give to guests in need at our soup kitchen ministries so they can purchase food and gifts for their families at Christmas. We are grateful to all who've donated so far! We are still very much in need of wrapping paper, wrapping supplies, and coloring books for the little ones though. We will be using these supplies to supply presents to the children at our soup kitchens in addition to the gift cards! Please consider donating these items at our wish lists at https://lnkd.in/g6M64gwQ or at https://a.co/1B66iTb. Items must be delivered by 12/8 at the latest! If you'd like to donate a gift card or cards to this drive, you may also do so by delivering them to our location at 6333 Medbury in Detroit. Questions? Please call the Capuchin Services Center at (313) 925-1370 or email Br. Fred Cabras at fcabras@cskdetroit.org. God bless and have a Merry Christmas!
