It's Provider Data Nerdmas Eve! Tomorrow is a huge day for CAQH and our health plan partners. Earlier this year, 14 health plans came together and agreed that provider data exchange with health systems is too fragmented and inconsistent. Leaders from each of these plans committed to working with us to build and adopt a common format for provider data requests (a "universal roster") from health system groups. Tomorrow, we're flying SMEs from each of those plans into our DC headquarters for a 13 hour (!) workshop to build that roster template. We'll be getting strategic *and* tactical - pulling up and scrutinizing nearly 220+ essential data fields and definitions needed to standardize enrollment and directory updates. It's going to be a slog. But when we pull it off, we'll remove thousands of annual hours of unnecessary work for providers and plans. And we'll be making directories and networks more accurate for everyone. This is "must" work. This is "why" work. Sometimes innovation isn't sexy, it's really hard and in the weeds. But I've never been more proud of my CAQH team and the 24+ health plan leaders crazy enough to say yes to this work during a heatwave right before 4th of July. They're passionate to fix problems for providers and patients, and they're leaving competition and self-interest behind to get it done. Healthcare needs a lot more of this, and I'm psyched.
