Pittsburgh Regional Transit is an honoree in the upcoming Engaging Pittsburgh Awards, where they'll be recognized for their outstanding achievements in the 'Innovative People Practices' category. The introduction of Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) marks a voluntary initiative within Pittsburgh Regional Transit. ERGs are employee-led groups formed around shared identity, background or special interests. They provide PRT employees with a platform to engage on a deeper level with colleagues who share aspects of their identity beyond conventional organizational structures. ERGs serve as key drivers in fostering inclusivity within PRT. It's not that diversity isn't important, but diversity is only an indicator - a proxy - to check if our processes are equitable. I see a lot of companies getting so hung up on diversity for diversity's sake, that it becomes a bit like the "diversity bingo" game in this video (which is hilarious, by the way).
