The all-new HBO #QuadGods documentary is receiving rave reviews, particularly regarding how the subjects are treated. It is much less a story about exploring how inspiring their stories are as they triumph through adversity. It is much more about seeing how they navigate a world Blake Hunt, one of the eight members of the Quad Gods, the world’s first all-quadriplegic esports team, says “isn’t really designed for us.” If you’re ready for a different perspective on disability, one that doesn’t define someone by their medical condition but rather by their individual quirks, personalities, and life experiences, check out Quad Gods, streaming now on HBO Max. #QuadGods #HBO #Esports #DisabilityRepresentation #InclusionMatters #AdaptiveGaming #DisabilityAwareness #GamingCommunity

Surprise! Grayson Jones, a 20-year-old from Kingsport, Tennessee, was thrilled when Millard Choate, owner of Choate Construction Company, supporter of Shepherd Center, and Tennessee native, surprised him by bringing his black 1966 Corvette convertible to Shepherd Center for Grayson to check out. Grayson, who loves classic cars and works on them with his dad, was over the moon. They spent an hour talking about the history, mechanics, and car shows, and Millard even showed him photos from his collection. Grayson's all-time favorite car is the 1963 Corvette, but this visit surely added a new favorite to his list! Just another #ShepherdDayInTheLife #ClassicCars #StingrayCorvette #ShepherdCenter

Bernie Marcus' words sum up all our feelings every time we enter the Shepherd Center doors. Many people ask employees if it is depressing to work at a hospital when, in fact, it is just the opposite. It is one of the most positive environments you've ever been in, full of hope, humor, and hard work. Thank you, Bernie Marcus, for your kind words and for your continued support of Shepherd Center throughout the years. We can’t wait for the Marcus Center for Advanced Rehabilitation to be complete so that we can welcome even more people into Shepherd Center! Do his words ring true for your experience at Shepherd Center? #MarcusFoundation #ShepherdCenter #Recovery

A recent study demonstrated that, when combined with functional task practice training, the noninvasive ARC-EX device by ONWARD Medical enhances hand and arm strength in 72% of people with cervical spinal cord injuries. Measurement showed participants also had improved ability to perform functional tasks, sensation, and overall quality of life. This groundbreaking technology, along with training, has the potential to change lives by improving the ability to perform everyday tasks and promoting independence. Co-principal investigator Edelle C. Field-Fote, PT, Ph.D., director of spinal cord injury research at Shepherd Center, highlighted the significance of this therapy in improving real-life function and quality of life for individuals with tetraplegia. According to Dr. Field-Fote, even minor improvements in tasks like using an ATM card, inserting a key into a lock, or being able to hold and eat a sandwich can significantly enhance someone's independence and overall quality of life. Thank you, Dr. Field-Fote, for continuing to push the boundaries in research and find ways to improve our patients' lives. #TetraplegiaStudy #ImprovingQualityOfLife #ShepherdCenter #Innovation
