On this day, we remember the life and legacy of Dr. Benjamin Mauck, whose passing on July 11, 2023, left a profound void in our Campbell Clinic Orthopaedics family. Dr. Mauck was a dedicated and compassionate hand surgeon, renowned for his expertise in congenital hand deformities and his commitment to providing the best care for his patients. He was not only a gifted doctor but also a cherished mentor and educator, deeply respected by his colleagues and loved by his patients. His legacy of excellence in patient care and education continues to inspire us. Today, we honor his memory and the remarkable impact he had on all our lives.

Each summer, four medical school-bound Kappa Delta Sorority collegians intern at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee. With direction from acclaimed orthopaedic researchers, interns work on a research project, participate in research data conferences, attend training conferences, and participate in a journal club. A day is dedicated to observe and spend time with members of the Campbell Clinic Orthopaedics medical staff, Foundation research team, and other HCPs. For more than a quarter century, the Memphis Business Journal has been honoring the Mid-South's elite health care professionals. We're pleased to announce that two Campbell Clinic Orthopaedics physicians have been named finalists for the 2024 Health Care Heroes awards! Health Care Provider-Physician: David D. Spence, M.D. specializes in pediatric and adolescent sports medicine, pediatric and young adult hip preservation, trauma, deformity correction, neuromuscular disorders, and spinal deformity (scoliosis). He serves as an active member in many orthopaedic societies and is an assistant professor for The University of Tennessee Health Science Center-Campbell Clinic Residency Program. Community Outreach: David R. Richardson, M.D. launched Our Hearts to Your Soles in 2007, which has served Memphis Union Mission for 15 years and was expanded to serve Hospitality Hub clients in 2024. #MondayMemories We're celebrating 100 years of orthopaedic excellence! In 1924, Dr. Willis Campbell established an orthopaedic surgery residency program in Memphis, Tennessee. The program trained physicians to be orthopaedic surgeons and compliment deliver much-needed bone and joint care and expertise to the Memphis and Mid-South region. This was simply the beginning of a legacy of Moving Lives. Blogpost 7: Taking Care of Business ⚡ Home of the Blues - Memphis, Tennessee. Hosted by Campbell Clinic Orthopaedics and Campbell Clinic Foundation. #ABC2024 Making memories in Memphis: we were greeted by Jennifer Lowrey and Margaret Knack with gifts and smiles at the airport and a thankfully air-conditioned ride to the Peabody Hotels and Resorts. Dr Derek Kelly was waiting at the hotel and introduced us to the famous ducks in the fountain of the lobby. Dinner and music followed at BB King's Blues Club. A morning of sight seeing at the Mississippi River, taking advantage of the view from the riverside pyramid Bass Pro Shops, followed by a visit to the Campbell Clinic Orthopaedics to learn about the differences between our health care systems from Daniel Shumate. We listened to the rich history of the ABC tour in Memphis and the huge contribution the Campbell Clinic Orthopaedics and Campbell Clinic Foundation have made to the tour. Jonathan Stevenson gave a talk on the history of the The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. After break out sessions with our sub-specialty colleagues, we were hosted at William Mihalko and family for further academic discussions. Day 2: We attended trauma rounds at Regional One Health chaired by Matt Rudloff, followed by an art tour of Le Bonheur Children's Hospital and the new intensive care facility for level one paediatric trauma covering Tenessee and adjacent states. Next stop was a tour of Graceland, home to Elvis Presley and family. Lastly we were hosted at the new Campbell clinic facility in central Memphis for academic lectures by the ABC fellows to faculty and residents after being introduced to ex-ABC James Beaty, regaling us with stories of his eight week 1991 ABC tour of the UK, Australia & New Zealand. After a refreshing night of Memphis blues we headed to the airport for our trip to Denver Colorado. Memphis truly taught us the definition of "Southern Hospitality" and in the words of the King, we "can't help falling in love with you" Memphis!
