Leaders from across our life science ecosystem and the Harvard community recently gathered to celebrate a project five years in the making: One Milestone at the Enterprise Research Campus (ERC). A first-of-its-kind innovation hub developed in partnership with the Harvard HALC team, the ERC is a dynamic, mixed-use space designed to support research and discovery for biopharma companies of all sizes, right in the heart of Boston’s Allston neighborhood. The first phase—opening in 2026—will feature an immersive hotel alongside premium residential space and a 755-person conference center, as well as the two state-of-the-art lab buildings of One Milestone.   The event, hosted at Harvard’s John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, featured a series of panel discussions with industry pioneers in academia and biotech. They talked about how One Milestone's unique positioning will encourage audacious thinking and foster connections—both planned and spontaneous—to create a thriving community at the intersection of cutting-edge research, company creation, and ultimately, life-saving drug development.

Inclusivity matters at Breakthrough. In honor of Pride this year, bProud, our employee resource group that aims to cultivate a community of LGBTQ+ and ally-identifying employees across our global corporate offices, introduced a new speaker series. Our inaugural guest was Stacy Lentz, co-owner of the Stonewall Inn and CEO of the Stonewall Inn Gives Back Initiative (SIGBI.) Stacy shared the storied history of the iconic Stonewall Inn and how 55 years ago it became the birthplace of the Pride movement. She also spoke to philanthropic efforts of SIGBI which includes providing funding for grassroots organizations to support their work in education, LGBTQ+ awareness/rights and access to healthcare. We celebrate our LGBTQ+ colleagues, allies, and their families this month and every month. Happy Pride!

We support companies at every stage of their lifecycle, from the first experiment to multinational pharmaceutical companies. As such, we are excited to welcome Actio Biosciences, Inc. to their new location at Torrey View. Actio was one of the first companies within the StudioLabs by Breakthrough innovation center in San Diego and is now expanding to 28k RSF of turnkey lab and offices built for their innovative science. Our in-house teams worked hand in hand to deliver premier environments that will impact human health. Congratulations to the Actio team for achieving this milestone!

Last week, our hard-working construction team at 2300 Market in Philadelphia took a rare—and well-earned—break to celebrate steel topping out. We’re incredibly proud of our project team and all the tireless workers, contractors, and trades who have helped bring our vision to life. 2300 Market—opening in early 2025—will be Philadelphia’s most sophisticated life science research building, with 225,000 square feet of premiere lab and office space right at the gateway to Center City.

Industry leaders from all over the world gathered yesterday at our Torrey View campus in San Diego for “Science on Display,” a half-day of panels and networking to showcase innovation within biotech. The event featured lawn games, lunch, and two discussions: one about navigating the process of starting a company within the life science community, and the other about the role disease foundations play in supporting innovation. Through his visionary leadership, creativity, and unflinching commitment to innovation, Arie will continue to shape the city’s exciting life sciences ecosystem for years to come. We hope the advancements that happen on our campuses will impact the world, but we also want to impact our communities, too. Our San Diego team—along with our brokers at JLL—joined forces for an afternoon of service to support the RARE Science RARE bear initiative, a grassroots volunteer-driven program that makes one-of-a-kind teddy bears for children fighting rare diseases. RARE Science is a nonprofit that works with patient families and foundations to ID therapeutic solutions for kids, often through repurposing existing treatments. Our team was able to create 20 bears and are excited to send them home!
