Inclusivity matters at Breakthrough. In honor of Pride this year, bProud, our employee resource group that aims to cultivate a community of LGBTQ+ and ally-identifying employees across our global corporate offices, introduced a new speaker series. Our inaugural guest was Stacy Lentz, co-owner of the Stonewall Inn and CEO of the Stonewall Inn Gives Back Initiative (SIGBI.) Stacy shared the storied history of the iconic Stonewall Inn and how 55 years ago it became the birthplace of the Pride movement. She also spoke to philanthropic efforts of SIGBI which includes providing funding for grassroots organizations to support their work in education, LGBTQ+ awareness/rights and access to healthcare. We celebrate our LGBTQ+ colleagues, allies, and their families this month and every month. Happy Pride!

October is LGBTQ+ History Month In 1994, Missouri high-school teacher, Rodney Wilson, founded LGBTQ+ History Month to celebrate and honor the history, contributions, and achievements of the LGBTQ+ community. While great strides have been made since LGBTQ+ History month was founded, there is still much more that can be done to foster a more inclusive world for the LGBTQ+ community especially in the financial industry. While these changes cannot be made overnight, they do require an intentional effort from all of us. Members of the LGBTQ+ community often face unique financial challenges, making personalize financial planning imperative to support these investors. To learn more about how you can better serve your LGBTQ+ clients and better understand their unique needs, sign up to become a CERTIFIED ADVISOR FOR WOMEN™ or CERTIFIED ADVISOR FOR NEXTGEN™ professional, and watch Willow’s CE Seminar, “Engaging Investors in the LGBTQ+ Community” moderated by Candice McGarvey, CFP® (available for one CE credit hour). #LGBTQHistoryMonth #FinancialPlanning #InclusiveFinancialPlanning

What is “Rainbow Washing?” Rainbow washing, defined as using rainbow colors to show support for LGBTQ equality without meaningful advocacy, is a sneaky marketing tactic. Companies often splash rainbows and LGBTQ imagery in June but forget about it later. This practice, termed "optical allyship," is wrong and unethical, especially when companies harm the LGBTQ community. How to Avoid Rainbow Washing Your Brand: 1. Stay consistent in advocacy. 2. Elevate LGBTQ+ voices. 3. Embrace workplace diversity. 4. Donate to LGBTQ+ advocacy groups. 5. Speak out against injustice. Move forward by being a genuine ally year-round, not just during Pride month. Let's strive for authentic support and allyship beyond the rainbow-colored marketing gimmicks. #HappyPride!

🌈 Pride Month! 🌈 As we enter week #2 of Pride Month, I wanted to share some ways we can show our support and celebrate! 1. Educate Yourself and Others: Understanding the history and significance of Pride is crucial. Take time to learn about key milestones in the LGBTQ+ rights movement, such as the Stonewall Riots of 1969, and educate others to foster a more inclusive society. 2. Create Inclusive Spaces: Whether at work or in your community, strive to create environments where everyone feels safe and respected. Implement policies that support diversity and inclusion and ensure that LGBTQ+ voices are heard and valued. 3. Attend Pride Events: Many cities host parades, workshops, and other events during Pride Month. Participating in these events is a great way to show solidarity and celebrate the diversity within the LGBTQ+ community. 4. Share Your Support: Use social media platforms to show your support for Pride Month. Share educational resources, inspirational stories, and messages of solidarity to spread awareness and encourage others to do the same. Happy Pride Month! 🏳️🌈

🌈 Pride Month: More Than Just a Rainbow Logo 🌈 As we celebrate Pride Month, it's heartening to see companies show their support with vibrant rainbow logos. But the LGBTQ+ community needs more than just symbols of solidarity—we need tangible actions and investments that truly make a difference. Visibility is important, but real support goes beyond a colorful logo. It involves: Investing in LGBTQ+ communities: Supporting initiatives that provide education, healthcare, housing, and employment opportunities. Implementing equal access company policies: Ensuring all families, faiths, and gender identities are respected and supported within the workplace. This includes comprehensive non-discrimination policies, inclusive benefits, and safe spaces for everyone. Ensuring corporate donations align with values: Avoiding contributions to special interests and politicians who oppose LGBTQ+ rights. Let’s advocate for meaningful change and hold our companies accountable. It's time for corporate allies to step up and make a real impact. Together, we can create a world where everyone is celebrated and supported every day of the year. Happy Pride! 🏳️🌈#PrideMonth #LGBTQSupport #CorporateResponsibility #InvestInCommunities

This month, we stand proud and united to commemorate Pride Month, a celebration of love, diversity, acceptance, and self-expression. This is not just a time to acknowledge the struggles and victories of the LGBTQ+ community but also to reflect on the importance of creating a more inclusive and empathetic society. As we celebrate Pride, let us also remember the importance of allyship. Being an ally means supporting and standing up for the rights of those who identify as LGBTQ+. It means creating safe spaces at work and in our communities where everyone can be their authentic selves. It requires constant learning, understanding, and committing to equality and justice. This Pride month—and all year round—let's strive to spread love, promote inclusivity, and uplift each other. Because when one of us succeeds, we all do. How are you celebrating Pride month and promoting inclusivity in your community? #PrideMonth #Inclusivity #Allyship
