📅 Uniting scholars, artists, and cultural producers, the Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce, Inc., in partnership with New York International Contemporary Art Society (NYICAS), Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro, and Saphira & Ventura New York Gallery, will host a breakfast seminar on “Impact Investing in Brazil’s Creative Economy.” The program will highlight the importance of investing in creative processes and industries in Brazil, including ANTROPOCRUZO, an exhibition about a carnival parade in Rio de Janeiro celebrating the Tupinambá Mantle. This 17th-centutry feathered cape was made by the Tupinambás, an indigenous tribe of the Tupi people, and is now an iconic ethnographic artifact. Brazilian farmers are keener to switch to bioinputs than peers in other countries, according to new research showing the average annual growth of the market was 21% in the last three years, four times above anywhere in the world. According to data released on Tuesday by CropLife Brasil, a Brazilian lobby representing biotech, chemical and bioinput companies, retail sales of “biocontrol” tools in the country reached 5 billion reais ($924 million) in the 2023/2024 season. Bioinputs, essentially a biological solution to the problems of modern agriculture, are an alternative to the use of pesticides and fertilizers to control pests and improve crop yields.
