Plenty of people ask me WHICH MILK SHOULD I BUY TO SUPPORT AUSTRALIAN DAIRY FARMERS? and I always say by choosing Australian dairy products, you’re not only supporting farming families, but entire dairy communities so check the labels of all your dairy products to make sure they are sourced from Aussie milk. @dairyaustralia remind us, while many dairy processors operating in Australia are internationally owned, most drinking milk (with the exception of a few UHT imported brands) sold by these companies is from Australian farmers. Bottom line: Look for the Aussie Grown label. @australiandairyfarmers @australiandairyindustrycouncil @australiandairyproductsfederation #dairyaustralia #australiandairy #dairy #ausdairy #milk #australiangrown #australianfarmers #agrishots

International certification to boost local produce market access The country's produce farmers, certified by the Namibian Agronomic Board (NAB), have earned the local Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) certificate. The certification assures quality throughout agricultural supply chains, boosting the credibility and market presence of local farmers’ produce on both domestic and international markets. “All the farmers that are going to be recognised have met 100% major compliance criteria and 95% minor compliance criteria on the Primary Farm Assurance (PFA) standard requirements for food safety and hygiene. It helps producers gain gradual recognition by providing an entry level to Global GAPCertification,” Lorna Shikongo-Kuvare, the NAB’s General Manager for Regulatory Services, said. This comes after Global GAP introduced the Local GAP standard as a capacity building initiative aimed at assisting farmers who are unable to immediately comply with the Integrated Farm Assurance standard. https://lnkd.in/dp7DuA_g #agriculture #producefarmers #certification

Dairy farming in the Netherlands has become a topic of intense debate, with opinions sharply divided. Interestingly, the timing of GDF’s annual congress in New Zealand this March couldn’t be more fitting. Both countries stand as major dairy exporters, boasting robust dairy industries and leveraging favourable climatic conditions for milk production. Broad coalition of stakeholders in the EU, including Copa-Cogeca, Euroseeds, Europatat, Coceral, the European Beet Growers (CIBE), and CEPM Maiz'Europe raise concerns over proposed EU Plant Reproductive Material (PRM) amendments. https://lnkd.in/e_273xHR The co-signing organizations emphasize the importance of maintaining the balance achieved in the original proposal from the European Commission. They argue that the AGRI Committee report compromises this balance by introducing exemptions that could allow unchecked PRM to reach the market without proper assurances or traceability. "This, in all likelihood, would lead to the establishment of a parallel, uncontrolled market that undermines the efforts of plant breeders and farmers to increase sustainability while ensuring food security in Europe," the statement warns.
