It's being compared to Mexican Gothic, but does anyone know if The Hacienda is better written than Mexican Gothic (I did not find that book lived up to its hype)?

Is it just me or am I the only one that like Mexican Gothic but was super bored with this one? I wanted to like this so much because it was compared to Mexican Gothic but I just found it super slow and boring.

The horror in this book is true to the gothic roots, so nothing super graphic, mostly it’s spooky and atmospheric. Its also very well written, which I think helps…it’s not creepy just for the sake of being creepy, it’s creepy because it works well to highlight the everyday horrors of man vs. man. (less)
