Although it's about a haunted house, it didn't feel like horror at all to me. Not scary at all really!

I would consider this book horror, yes, but more in the haunting/creepy way than the torture porn way. Magic realism with the creep factor turned up to 11. I'm trying to think why it would be called body horror; I wouldn't characterize it that way at all.

I noticed trigger warning mentions body horror and gore: can someone spoil this for me please? (what exactly is it like knife to throat or stabbing or holes? or skinning? etc are these described? or just briefly mentioned like "he/she was stabbed")
