I was exact opposite…bored with Mexican Gothic and really liked this one. I will admit the first bit was slow, but once it picked up I was hooked. I’ve not read a lot of haunted house books, but this is my fav so far.

I honestly liked the writing of Mexican Gothic better and was more engaged. I did the audiobook for Hacienda and I just kept getting lost. It didn't really continue right where it left off and kind of left gaps.The tone of the book changed often and MG just felt continous.

I enjoyed the Mexican Gothic theme. I thought that different moments in the book. The author captures the reader's attention at different moments but there were some chapters were the story dragged and not enough backstory about the some of the characters.
