The owls at Muncaster are rescued birds that can't be released back into the wild. Although in captivity, they do have plenty of room to fly and lead happy lives. This is a Great grey owl, taking in the day.
Watched an awesome flying demo on my holiday to Cornwall this year. Best by far was this magnificent Eagle Owl
Taken at a meeting with the Lichfield Wildlife Group. All of the owls are hand reared by a lady called Jill.
Taken through the mesh of the large enclosure. Lots of other lovely owls in the breeding sanctuary at Muncaster. Also splendid gardens and a very interesting and amusing audio tour of the castle narrated by the aristocratic residents.
A young barn owl, photo taken whilst ringing.
Please note that Barn owls are protected by law in the UK and a license was need both to visit the nest box and ring the owls.
Bracken from Happisburgh Owls. It was a dull old day on Sunday & North Walsham Garden Centre who were having an Apple Day. Happisburgh Owls had a few of their Owls on show. I made the mistake of having a coffee before i got some pictures. The Children were all having their pictures taken with the Owls. There were no clean backgrounds behind the birds & i could only manage a couple of quick shots.
