Mono Lake is a beautiful lake with these unusual rock formations called Tufa. Arrived South Tufa the day before in the afternoon to check the road for sunset and sunrise for next day. The only thing is that the road is partly unpaved, google might take you to the road that river flowing ahead, you had to turn back to 395 and took another one… When we finally arrived at the South Tufa in the afternoon, we were thrilled and surprised by the number and beauty of these incredible God made structures on the lake... There is an easy boardwalk trail down to the Lake. The views are magnificent and beautiful. This lake is often used as the face of 'wish you were here' postcard, and deservedly so.

Old, unique, and full of personality… The Tufas are otherworldly, but you need to search to find the best views. Here is the photo of blue hour before sunrise, probably before blue hour. Not so many people in the early morning. There was the windy warning that day around the region, not perfect reflection.

Autumn - renowned for its glorious woodland colours......

The wind was blowing so hard, even the birds seemed to be hiding out! But we persevered with our Lee Filters and smoothed out the water and sky.

Happy Blue Monday!

Hmmmm, raining hard and it's Monday. A black and white image seems right for today....

I posted this image of the Kananaskis's Mt. Nestor and Smuts Creek in technicolor earlier (in comments). I also liked it in monochrome. Hope you do as well.

Taken for the Weekly Macro Mondays challenge - Back to Square One

Pressed for time this week so this photo was taken and edited using my phone. The Mushroom is 3.5cms and the photo was edited using snapseed which was time consuming!

Many thanks for any favs or comments HMM!

Evening stars start to come out with moonlight on the tufa at Mono Lake.

Mono Lake's tufa pillars stand like monoliths from another world.

A tree fallen in the storm - or was it cut down before it fell?

Misty woods in flat light. Time for a bit of mono work!

I'm frequently drawn back to b/w shots. Monochrome images impact and alter the atmosphere, drama and personal responses from technicolor shots. I thought this worked well in b/w.

The color version in comments.

Another image from the foggy morning at Aston Rowant. I thought I would show this one in both mono and colour. (I prefer the mono.)
