Some amazing sights to be had while traveling through the state of Arizona. The processing for this scene seemed fitting given the late morning light. Captured while traveling from Mexican Hat to Marble Canyon.

Another Arizona sunset

Lightning drops from the sky during an afternoon monsoon storm near Wickenburg, AZ. The Arizona monsoon is a pattern of pronounced increase in thunderstorms and rainfall over large areas of the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico, typically occurring between June and September. During the monsoon, thunderstorms are fueled by daytime heating and build up during the late afternoon-early evening. Typically, these storms dissipate by late night, and the next day starts out fair, with the cycle repeating daily.

Would not have the same ring as the song "Amarillo Sky" ... but I just loved these clouds over the red rocks as we came down from Buffalo Pass at the edge of Arizona and New Mexico, neat the town of Lukachukai.

Used the CPL filter to get those nice colors in the rocks and sky under the mid-day lighting.

True Story! Love getting up before sunrise and getting my day started with a hot cup of coffee and a cool morning breeze. (Yuma, Az)

I spent an hour this morning diving into my archives from my Arizona trip back in April. Looking at old photos with fresh eyes is a fun exercise and often leads to finding new gems. Like this photo I ended up falling in love with. Reminds me of one from Kevin Russ, one of my biggest influences.

The Grand Canyon (Hopi: Ongtupqa; Yavapai: Wi:kaʼi:la, Navajo: Tsékooh Hatsoh, Spanish: Gran Cañón) is a steep-sided canyon carved by the Colorado River in the state of Arizona in the United States. Between 100,000 and 3 million years ago, volcanic activity deposited ash and lava over the area which at times completely obstructed the river. These volcanic rocks are the youngest in the canyon.

Captured this image during a snow storm in central Arizona. The clouds were obscuring some of the mountains as they were dumping snow on them. Got some cloud break just in time for sunset.

I took this photo of a very unique large scale model of the the battle ship USS Arizona last week at Falcon Field at the Arizona Wing of the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) during the Classic Car Show.

Veterans day is next week and I wanted to started honoring our Veterans early.

USS Arizona (BB-39) was a Pennsylvania-class battleship of the United States Navy and the first to be named "Arizona". On March 4, 1913, Congress authorized the construction of Arizona, named to honor the 48th state's admission into the union on 14 February 1912. The ship was the second and last of the Pennsylvania class of "super-dreadnought" battleships. Her keel was laid at the Brooklyn Navy Yard on 16 March 1914. She was launched on 19 June 1915, sponsored by Esther Ross, the daughter of a prominent Arizona pioneer, W.W. Ross of Prescott, Arizona. The ship's remaining machinery, including new Parson turbines,[1] was installed, and she was commissioned at her builder's yard on 17 October 1916, with Captain John D. McDonald in command.

Arizona served stateside during World War I. She is most remembered because of her sinking, with the loss of 1,177 lives, during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941, the event that goaded the US into World War II. Unlike most of the other ships sunk or damaged that day, the Arizona could not be salvaged, although the U.S. Navy removed several elements of the ship that were reused. The wreck still lies at the bottom of Pearl Harbor and was established as a memorial to all those who died during the Pearl Harbor attack.

That magnificent valley in northern Arizona is a land of wonder. It is just as amazing as the Grand Canyon but somehow easily to grasp in the mind. It is easier hiking as you are at just 3,000 feet and the trails are not straight up and down. Well worth a several day visit if you have it on your travel list.

Arizona & California's turn from Parker, Az to Cadiz, Ca is seen about half way between Chubbuck and Cadiz not long before sunset. The reason for the excessive amount of locomotives is the impending interchange with BNSF at Cadiz. The Arizona & California would take a significant load back towards Parker.

Darkness slowly falls amidst the impressive gorges and rugged chasms of the Grand Canyon during a colorful December sunset. This huge gorge created by the Colorado River, 446 km long and up to 1,857 meters deep, is definitely one of the most impressive places I ever visited.

A place of devastating and savage beauty, which assumes almost mystical notes if you have the good fortune to contemplate it completely alone during a beautiful winter sunset.
