quail in arizona, an image taken a few years back

more from Saguaro West. I love taking pictures here. Many textures. I like the cactus skeleton on the left side of the road. and the texture makes the lines on the road look interesting. and the fact that you can see the mountains in the distance.

L?

not my best work but there is something about these two photos that I enjoy. Plus who doesn't like pictures of roads? XD

I think I might have found Darth Vader's secret hide out too?

Taken at Bell Rock in beautiful Sedona, Arizona. We hiked about half way up the trail to take this scenic picture. Olympus digital camera.

Southern Arizona experiences a monsoon weather pattern each summer with large thunderstorms and lots of lightning. This is a blend of some of the strikes and cloud to cloud crawlers we experienced one night this week as the monsoon came blasting in. It's made up of 15 images taken over 15 minutes blended together in PS, triggered by the Lightning Trigger IV, 1/4 sec exposures.

Posing for the camera, in front of the usual phalanx of birders!

Madera Canyon, Arizona. April, 2021.

This image is from the 28th of December returning to Phoenix between Flagstaff and Sedona.I try to shoot this composition where it fits into my travels on a regular basis, I love the around the corner set up that draws your eye and keeps you searching an image.

This set up actually allowed me to have the around the bend comp as well as a lead off that makes you want to figure out what is also down the valley so keeps your eyes on the image a few seconds longer than without this.

This shot is on one of the top 5 scenic highways in the US between Flagstaff and Sedona and as the sign says about ½ mile before the Slide Rock state park.

This was a 43 acre family apple orchard homestead donated to the state after the owner’s passing. Today this is popular area for picnics and a place to beat the heat of summer with its shaded deep canyon keeping temperatures low in the hot surroundings.

I took this with my D750 and Tamron SP 24-70mmmm 2.8 G2 Lens at 70mm 1/60s, f/16 ISO 100 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia,

During our visit to Colossal Cave near Tucson, we were surprised to find a large group of coatimundi living there. Usually coatimundi are considered a South and Central American animal but their natural habitat stretches as far north as Tucson, Arizona. This one is clamoring over the wall surrounding the cave.

January 2015

A nice sunrise this morning here in Surprise, Arizona. I'll eventually get down to the hill nearby and get a better shot of the sunrise. Until then, shots from the backyard will do I think.

At the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum

The park turned 100 years old in 2019 and has seen a lot of traffic over its years just in 2017 alone there were 6 million visitors to the Canyon and most to the Southern rim.

If solitude is your goal at the canyon you need to head to the North rim, it is only open from April to November due to weather access issues but in summer when the temps soar at the Southern Rim to triple digits it is 10 degree cooler to the North.

It is a 4.5 hour drive from rim to rim in the Canyon so plan accordingly, the North rim is better accessed from Las Vegas than places in Arizona and with over 350 miles of marked trails and 250 miles of river to float through there is enough adventure for everyone North or South.

I took this with my D750 and Tamron SP 24-70mmmm 2.8 G2 Lens at 52mm 1/100s, f/11 ISO 100 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia,

After we left the Grand Canyon we headed to Page Arizona to see Horseshoe Canyon and Antelope Canyon. Along the way we stopped at a few smaller canyon that actually were pretty neat to see.
