FLASHBACK!

ANTELOPE CANYON

PAGE, ARIZONA

A bucket list that remains unfulfilled!

Two nieces of mine decided to take me to Antelope Canyon when they found out it was in my bucket list. We flew to Las Vegas then drove to Arizona together with their folks and another sister. The weather looked fine but when we got there, one of the guides told us we couldn't go because there was a flashflood. Apparently, 2 of 7 photographers lost their lives in the canyon from a flashflood a few years prior. We were told we can wait so we decided to drive around the area and each time we went back, we were told, it was a no go! Under those threatening clouds was where I wanted to be! Finally, it was too late in the afternoon, and we had to drive back to Las Vegas!

This trip remains in my Bucket List!

Thank you so much for stopping by and for the kind comments and favs. They are very much appreciated!

The Blue Mesa is located in Arizona's Petrified Forest National Park. Erosion over eons of time has exposed sedimentary layers that are bands of gray and blue tones. Petrified logs are also released by the erosion, but they are physically harder and eventually fall to the floor of the canyon.

Arizona Garden in full bloom - We discovered a small desert garden tucked into the Stanford Campus. With the desert plants in full bloom, it was a beautiful sight even in the middle of the day

I took this at the first truck stop in Arizona just across the New Mexico border on I 40 WB. The highways of the US have some of the most beautiful scenery. One doesn't have to go far to see the beauty this country offers.

The vastness of this pre-Grand Canyon, Horseshoe Bend will capture your breath. Some of the white spots on the water are actually boats!

All possible colors seem to exist in the Canyon, each eroded layer is different owing to the different layers of sediment. As the afternoon edges in the box of colors comes out and surprises with each new moment.

The meteor, estimated to be 100-175 feet across, fell here around 50,000 years ago, excavating approximately 175 million metric tons of earth.
