The Block 2024: Fan-favourites set to return for secret project

Network Nine have announced an all-star cast will return to the 2024 series of The Block to join the brand-new contestants. 

Channel Nine revealed in a statement on Monday that fan favourites and previous winners of the show will be working on a secret project in season 20. 

Among the returning contestants, fans can expect to see 2023 winners Steph and Gian Ottavio along with 2022 record-breakers Omar Slaimankhel and Oz Said. 

'As this season builds to the auction, a select group of the All-Stars will be helping this year's Blockheads to create something never seen on the Block before,' a spokesperson said.

But while the fan-favourites lend a helping hand to this year's contestants, they will also be working behind the scenes together on a very secret project. 

The star-studded group will be made up of 11 teams from eight different seasons, including season 19 favourites Eliza and Liberty Paschke. 

Season 18 stars Tom and Sarah-Jane Calleja will also make a return, as well as Ronnie and Georgia Caceres who competed on season 13 and 17. 

Winners from the 2020 season Jimmy and Tam Wilkins will also participate, along with Andy and Deb Saunders who competed in 2019.

Rounding out the team are Kyal and Kara Demmrich (2014), Michael and Carlene Duffy (2014), Dale and Sophie Vine (2012), and Alisa and Lysandra Fraser (2013 and 2014).  

Channel Nine's beloved renovation series The Block is set to make a triumphant return to TV screens later this year, marking two decades since its initial premiere.

While the show won't air until after the Paris Olympics have finished in August, the contestants have already been spotted shooting a promo video for the season.

Leaked photos in March showed host Scott Cam enjoying the company of the ten new contestants at a scenic beach on Phillip Island in Victoria.

Each team donned color-coordinated outfits to distinguish themselves, separated into team blue, red, yellow, green and purple. 

It has already been teased that team purple - newlyweds Kristian and Mimi Belperio - will bring the drama for the 20th anniversary season.

A source told Yahoo Lifestyle: 'The feeling is that we have bought some serious dynamite with these two and we are just waiting for an explosion.'
