Some iPhone users have been inexplicably locked out of their Apple ID accounts.
That's according to a number of users who reportedly received an iOS alert telling them to update their Apple ID settings, according to 9to5Mac.
It's unclear what's causing users to be locked out of their accounts, or how many people have been affected by the issue.

Some iPhone users have been inexplicably locked out of their Apple ID accounts, with a number of them receiving an iOS alert telling them to update their Apple ID settings
User reports began surfacing on Twitter and Reddit late Monday and have continued to pop up today.
MailOnline has reached out to Apple for comment.
The iOS alert notifies users that their Apple ID has been locked 'for security reasons' and will instruct them to verify their identity in order to unlock their account.
Typically, Apple will lock users out of their Apple ID account after someone has attempted to access it by entering the wrong password too many times.
Users can restore access by tapping the 'Unlock Account' button.
Then, they'll have to answer predetermined security questions and validate their identity by entering a phone number associated with the account.

Users are also instructed to reset the password to their Apple ID account.
When users are locked out of their account, they lose access to Apple services like iMessage, iCloud and Apple Music.
Some have suggested it could be an issue with Apple's account security protocols or a result of a malicious attack, but the source of the bug is currently unclear.
However, a source told AppleInsider that it 'doesn't appear to be an Apple bug' and that it's only 'impacting a minute percentage' of Apple users.

About a dozen or so Reddit users reported experiencing the issue beginning on Monday, with many of them saying they received the iOS alert despite having not accessed their Apple ID recently.
'I went through the steps on my phone to reset the password and then obviously asked me to sign in again on my iPad,' one Reddit user wrote.
'Really strange thing is when it went through the two step verification and alerted my phone it was showing the location of the iPad trying to login as Washington DC...I'm in Michigan.'
