Proofs, a startup that builds software using AI agents, has raised $2.6 million in pre-seed funding.

The startup, based in San Francisco and Warsaw, is utilizing AI to speed up the process of developing proof-of-concept software for companies. Generally, API-first companies looking for customized software can expect to spend between $10,000 and $1 million to have projects built-in processes, which can take up to a year, according to Proofs CEO Bartek Pucek.

Proof claims that using AI agents can drastically reduce the time taken to develop custom software to minutes at a much-reduced cost compared to traditional processes.

It's a competitive market in the making, with nascent startups like Cognition raising at multibillion-dollar valuations and California's Augment bringing in around $227 million in funding.

"Every year you have around $700 billion of software being sold, but unlike out-of-the-box SaaS products, the bar to build and integrate customized software is higher," Pucek told Business Insider. "It's slow to build a proof of concept, it can be up to a year to develop and it's costly. Our bet with Proofs is that we can build a product that is a new go-to-market option that can be done faster on top of companies' existing APIs."

Proofs has brought in pre-seed funding from EarlyBird Digital East, alongside Expeditions Fund, Step Function Ventures, RTP Global, and a number of angel investors.

"There's no blueprint; we have proprietary technology, which is our competitive advantage," Pucek added. "Using multiple agents, collaborating to perform complex tasks we believe we can do this much cheaper."

The initial funding will go towards building a team of experienced engineers to develop the product, which can be signed up for now.
