JMU catcher Jason Schiavone has had a breakout junior season with the Dukes. Schiavone grew up playing multiple sports, and even when he narrowed his sights on baseball, he wasn't sure if catcher was the position for him. Now, Schiavone is a nominee for the Buster Posey Catcher of the Year award.

JMU baseball split a doubleheader with Arkansas State on Friday after their game on Thursday was delayed. The Dukes won their first matchup 9-4 and lost the second 8-1.  

After Richmond senior center fielder Aaron Whitley scored a home run on the first pitch of the day, JMU scored 10 consecutive runs and eventually won the game 14-4. JMU 20-12 (6-6) will play a three-game series at Old Dominion, starting on Friday at 6 p.m., while Richmond 13-20 (3-3) will head home to start a series against George Washington on the same day at 2 p.m.

JMU Sports Network will be utilizing a brand new control room inside the Atlantic Union Bank Center (AUBC) for their broadcasts this year. The control room will not only improve the quality of broadcasts, but provide students with opportunities to use top of the industry equipment.
