Scope, general purpose and role responsibilities:
Reporting to the Hotel General Manager with a dotted line to the Group Director of Operational Finance, this role is responsible for delivering target profitability, maximising cash flow, maintaining strong internal controls, preparing budgets, forecasts, and Capital Expenditure plans, and providing value-adding management reporting. The Finance Director s a key business partner to the Hotel General Manager and leadership team, responsible for delivering the hotel's profitability targets.
Operational finance:
Compile, maintain, and review various financial reports.
Analyse financial variances and trends.
Ensure accurate and timely financial statement preparation.
Assess and optimise purchasing opportunities.
Develop and monitor internal controls to protect hotel assets.
Ensure compliance with licenses, permits, leases, and contracts.
Forecasting and financial controls:
Collaborate on revenue and expense forecasts.
Analyse trends and variances for accurate financial predictions.
Lead forecasting and budgeting processes.
Conduct variance analysis for improvement.
Evaluate and optimise hotel spending.
Business partnering and leadership:
Act as a strategic partner to hotel ownership.
Build relationships with key stakeholders.
Partner with senior leadership to achieve hotel objectives.
Develop and train the accounting team.
Lead as a cultural ambassador and influence organisational levels.
Projects and systems management:
Oversee financial system implementations and upgrades.
Drive improvements and best practices in financial systems.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects.
Monitor system efficiency and effectiveness.
Lead in evaluating and integrating new technologies.
People and talent:
Monitor, recruit, and plan for the hotel accounting team’s future.
Develop the team through guidance, feedback, and training.
Demonstrate leadership and commitment to organisational values.
Statutory finance and compliance:
Coordinate internal and external audits.
Ensure compliance with local tax regulations in collaboration with tax advisors.
More about you:
Strong hospitality finance operations knowledge and experience
Qualified accountant or equivalent
Proficient in Excel
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Good interpersonal skills and demonstrable initiative
Proactive with a can-do attitude
Current, legal, and unrestricted ability to work in the UK
