To mark International Women’s Day, a number of our ERGs have joined together for a virtual panel discussion featuring representatives from across RS Group plc. 🙌 Today's discussion was centred around this year's theme ‘Investing in Women’. As well as sharing what that means for them, our panellists also reflected on how we can make RS, and wider society, a truly inclusive place for women. What is the "right" maintenance strategy for your production assets? 🛠️ Robust maintenance and condition monitoring are vital for ensuring optimal plant performance and driving maximum operational efficiency. But the right maintenance strategy can vary greatly, depending on production line complexity, the age and type of machinery, the line's operational hours, and many other factors. One key aspect to consider is the criticality of the production asset to the line. For business-critical plant, such as the filler on a bottling line for example, continuous condition monitoring would likely be the best approach - leveraging a cloud-based platform like RS Industria. For less critical assets, periodic condition monitoring and maintenance at a lower frequency might be sufficient. Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM) are two effective strategies, which offer a comprehensive approach to preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance. Waste in food production is bad for sustainability and for the bottom line. Unplanned production line downtime and reactive maintenance interventions can be key causes of food waste, so it's crucial to have a strategy and tools in place to mitigate this. Walkers Deli & Sausage Co. (Samworth Brothers) implemented RS Industria cloud-based asset monitoring to give them real-time visibility of the performance of their critical refrigeration compressors.
