The Local Ha! Ha! Lounge 🙃 what a night!
Wanna come down to the pub and watch a woman squirt salad cream over herself? 💦 The Local Ha! Ha! Lounge, an evening of comedy variety and beer debuted at the World's End on Tuesday. 🎟 104 people bought tickets 🍻 334 pints of Local were poured 👯♀️ 8 performers lost the plot 🔻 & 1 string of bunting was hand-made by my mum This was a dream Local event: it never took itself too seriously, we heroed the amazing venue, included the local community and had great beer at the centre. If you missed it don’t worry, we’ll be returning after the Edinburgh festival so keep your eyes peeled, you won’t want to miss out! 👀 Special thanks to Adam Bernet, Metropolitan Pub Company, Nick White, Andy Bossert & all the staff at the World’s End, the perfromers, the tech team and everyone who came down to make this a night to remember! 📷 Photos by Matthew Clark Life’s heavy enough. After seeing Jacob Wood and Dom Dalton post about Allora (drinks) activation in the rain on Sunday (love to see it) - I’m not sure I can compete! I was going to tell you how, despite challenging weather to kick off the day, we came through with resilience to put on a great day in the Angel Oak’s garden - and to be fair that is true - but the resilience point doesn’t stack up vs Spritz in a Storm 👏 🍋 ☔️ We did however brew up our own storm down in SE15 whilst the boys weathered one in Düsseldorf! ⚽️ I think it’s fair to say we won a few loyal fans and managed to yet again elevate the Drink Local ROS for Metro Pubs 🍻 ⚽️ 🦁 Have a butchers if you fancy…

We took over Mare Street Market (a place where I spent many non-formative, unremembered evenings in my early 20s) for the morning and spilled pints everywhere, ate pizza, and covered James Tyler in stickers. I started Drink Local because the beer I wanted didn’t exist. A beer that didn’t leave me feeling feeling hammered, heavy & bloated after drinking with friends. That wasn’t obscenely calorific. That tasted delicious. Now I rarely drink anything else. Turns out I’m not the only one… Here is a great article from James Beeson around consumers more mindful approach to drinking… key takeouts; ✅ A new generation of mindful drinkers are saying no to getting completely hammered. Instead, we favour longer, more compos mentis sessions. ✅ We’re no longer seeing drinking & not drinking as binary. We hunt for drinks that allow us to moderate, not abstain entirely. ✅ We aren’t looking to cut down our time spent socialising or decreasing the volume we consume.
