I just want to big up Avion Gray and Samantha Rosenberg, founders of Belong, who were profiled in City AM this week for their innovative approach to mobilising a new generation of long-term investors. Belong's platform allows you to easily invest your excess cash savings, but also offers a boost loan feature, enabling you to double your investment to benefit from compound interest. What an honour it was today to attend the The Earthshot Prize ‘Stories of Impact’ event as part of London Climate Action Week. We were invited because of the relationship we’re building with Earthshot to promote its portfolio of innovators through our eco-community, Earthtopia. Seeing Prince William, Hannah Waddingham and Michael Bloomberg there was very exciting, but the real stars in the room were the 2023 winners and finalists, along with the ecosystem of investors, donors, nominators and global alliance partners, who are making it possible for these varied climate solutions to scale at speed. Over £50 million has already been raised in prize funds, but it goes way beyond that, with both winners and finalists gaining hands-on support, mentorship and opportunities to help them accelerate. A running theme through the panel discussions, which is a familiar one within the climate sector, was that of collaboration and knowledge-sharing. We cannot do this without each other, so the hard-nosed competition that comes with most industries is put aside, in order to create coalitions that will collectively tackle our planet’s greatest challenges.
