Slamming Prime Minister Narendra Modi for attacking Congress on Constitution and Ambedkar, party president Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday pointed out that RSS had opposed the Constitution “in writing” in 1950 and burnt the effigies of Ambedkar and Nehru in the capital to lodge its protest against the Constitution.

At the same time, Congress accused the PM of losing an opportunity to send out a message of unity to Manipur by refusing to allow Outer Manipur MP Alfred Arthur to speak for a minute ahead of his speech in Lok Sabha (LS) on Tuesday.

Congress MPs and spokespersons Gaurav Gogoi and Praniti Shinde said “The PM resorted to jokes and sarcasm, and old allegations, and degraded the political discourse, but refused to let a Manipur MP speak for a minute, which would have demonstrated sensitivity to the people of the state. This led to the northeast MPs’ protest in the House.”

The Congress on Wednesday hit out at the government over its second MP from Manipur not having been allowed to speak before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address in Lok Sabha, saying the PM repeated his old allegations, cracked jokes and took jibes but did not have the patience to listen to the voice of the legislator from the violence-hit state.

The Opposition party also alleged that it seems the prime minister is deliberately "turning his back" to the plight of Manipur. In his nearly 135-minute speech replying to the discussion on the Motion of Thanks on the President's Address in the Lower House, Modi was faced with continuous slogan-shouting on the Manipur issue by opposition members.

"The manner in which the PM twisted and misconstrued Rahul Gandhi's speech made it seem that he was delivering an election speech, and not speaking in the Parliament. When he came to Rajya Sabha, he levelled allegations against Congress and when Mallikarjun Kharge stood up, he was not given an opportunity for rebuttal. He kept lying. PM should understand one thing - though the Congress didn't get a majority, he didn't get one either. The 2024 elections are a personal, political and moral loss for him. He didn't get the mandate. I used to say that he is 1/3rd PM, he twisted that statement too and said that I was mentioning 1/3rd government...He would not have been the PM without Naidu and Nitish. He stopped at 240, he didn't get a mandate. It is true that he has become the PM for the third time but he didn't get the majority," he said.

"INDIA Parties walked out of Rajya Sabha because PM Modi was lying. He claims that we are against the Constitution, but the TRUTH is that BJP-RSS, Jansangh and their political forefathers had fiercely opposed the Constitution of India", he said in a post on X.

"They had burnt the effigies of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru at that time. This is was a shameful thing and an affront to Democratic values. The truth is that Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar had given the credit of drafting the Constitution to the Congress party", he added.

PM Modi says, "The government is continuously making efforts to normalise the situation in Manipur. More than 11,000 FIRs have been registered and over 500 people arrested. Incidents of violence are continuously reducing in Manipur. Today, schools, colleges, offices and other institutions are open in the state. Central & State govt is talking to all stakeholders to restore peace. The Union home minister stayed there for many weeks...Central govt is extending all cooperation to Manipur to tackle the flood situation. Today, 2 teams of NDRF have reached Manipur. I warn those who are trying to add the fuel to fire will be rejected by Manipur....Congress had imposed President’s rule in Manipur 10 times..."

"During the Emergency, several small political parties were floated, which are supporting the Congress today. Yesterday, I said in the Lok Sabha that this is parasitic Congress. Where they contest alone, their strike rate is shameful and where they got support from someone, they have got saved. The country has not accepted them yet," says PM Modi.

"It was said here that this was the first election of the country whose issue was protection of the Constitution. I would like to remind them, will you still continue to run the fake narrative? Have you forgotten the 1977 elections when newspapers, radio were banned, and even speaking was not allowed? The country voted on only one issue - reestablishment of democracy. No other election to save to Constitution has been bigger than that," said PM Modi in his reply to the Motion of Thanks on President's address in Rajya Sabha.

I can understand your pain. They are unable to digest the decision and mandate given by 140 crore countrymen. All his actions failed yesterday, so today he did not even have the courage to fight that battle, so he left the field and ran away.

This selective attitude of the opposition towards the atrocities against women is worrying.

Our government has worked to make laws for transgender people. Even people in the West are surprised that India is so progressive. Our government has come forward to give opportunities to transgenders in the Padma Awards as well.

PM Modi said, "During Congress’s tenure, there was a scheme for Rs 60,000 crore farmers' loan waiver but names of the needy small farmers were not even included in the list of beneficiaries."

The country is seeing that those who spread lies do not even have the strength to listen to the truth. Those who do not have the courage to face the truth do not have the courage to sit and listen to the answers to the questions raised by them after so much discussion. They are insulting the Upper House.

We have looked at agriculture in a broader perspective and have provided Kisan Credit Cards to fishermen as well. During the tenure of Congress, farmers' loan waiver was done once in 10 years and all efforts were made to mislead the farmers and so much noise was made about the loan waiver of 60 thousand crores. Its beneficiaries were only three crore farmers. There was no trace of the poor farmers. They were not even able to get the benefit. I would like to give an example to the House of how policies are made and benefits are derived when farmer welfare is at the centre of the heart of our Government. 10 crore farmers have benefited from our scheme. We have given Rs. 3 lakh crore to the farmers.

PM Modi said, "The next five years are to ensure saturation of basic facilities and for the fight against poverty. This country will emerge victorious against poverty in the next five years, and I am saying this based on the experience of the past 10 years. When India will become the third largest economy in the world, its impact will be on every sphere of life."

PM Narendra Modi said, "We feel proud of the wisdom and intelligence of the people of this country, in these elections. They defeated propaganda. They prioritised performance. They rejected the politics of deceit and put stamp of victory on the politics of trust."

During BJP protest against Rahul Gandhi, Delhi BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj said, "Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi deliberately made an irresponsible statement. He should apologise for his statement. He made the statement to encourage appeasement politics. and for this political gain. When he sees vote bank politics, he goes on a temple run. The First Session of the 18th Lok Sabha, which commenced on 24 June, 2024, concluded today. Speaker Om Birla informed that the First Session comprised 7 sittings and lasted for about 34 hours. He informed that Lok Sabha recorded 103% productivity during the Session

It was a rare occasion when Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla named and reprimanded the newly appointed leader of opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of inciting opposition members to troop to the well of the House to protest while PM Narendra Modi was delivering his reply to the vote of thanks to the President’s address to the joint sitting of Parliament.

“It is unbecoming of you as leader of the opposition... I have seen you asking members to troop to the well. Such behaviour is unwarranted on your part,” Birla said.
Opposition MPs, mostly from Congress, started protesting from both sides of the well and continued heckling the PM during his entire over two-hour speech. As soon as Modi rose to speak, opposition members, amid relentless sloganeering, urged the Speaker to allow an MP from Manipur to speak. As Birla said one of them had already been given an opportunity to speak, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi along with two Manipur MPs rushed to the well.

Later, several Congress MPs entered the well, while TMC members stood on the aisles voicing their support.

Every NDA MP has to work by prioritising the country, PM Modi told MPs of the governing alliance on Tuesday, urging them to adhere to parliamentary norms and effectively voice their concerns, parliamentary affairs minister Kiren Rijiju said. Modi said every MP should present the matters of their constituency in the House.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday accused the Congress of spreading lies on the Agnipath scheme to ensure that youths do not sign up for short-term recruitment in the armed forces. Replying to the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President's Address to the joint sitting of Parliament, Modi termed the Congress actions with regard to Agnipath initiative as an attempt to weaken the armed forces.
"Lies are being spread about recruitment in armed forces to ensure that the youth do not sign up for the armed forces. There is a conspiracy in this regard. After all, at whose behest Congress is trying to weaken our armed forces and spreading lies," he said.

Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi had criticised the Agnipath scheme and said that the families of Agniveers, who sacrifice their lives in the line of duty, were not even entitled for any compensation.

Seeking to embarrass the PM over his "parasite" remarks about Congress in Parliament, Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday said Narendra Modi had used the same pejorative against the protesting farmers in 2021.

Kharge mocked that the "tumse na ho payega (you are not capable)" barb that Modi hurled at Congress was what 140 crore Indians told his govt in the elections. "The way you mentioned 'tumse na ho payega' in your speech over 2 hours, 140 crore Indians have said the same thing to your govt in this election. The farmers who provide food to us voted against your false promises of 'doubling their income' and said 'tumse na ho payega'," he said. "The Dalits, Adivasis, backward, minority and poor sections of this country voted against your slogan of 'Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas' and said 'tumse na ho payega'," Kharge said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed profound sorrow over the stampede in Hathras and announced Rs 2 lakh ex gratia for the next of kin of the dead and Rs 50,000 for the injured.

Amidst his reply to a two-day debate on the Motion of Thanks on the Prez’s address to both Houses of Parliament, Modi condoled the death. “In the midst of discussions, I have also been given sad news. It has come to my attention that there have been many tragic deaths in the stampede in Hathras, UP,” PM Modi said in LS.

"Congress party has shamed the country's parliamentary system today. They did not give the chance to their MP from Manipur to speak. After Rahul Gandhi's 90-minute speech they could have given the chance to their leader from Manipur. The Congress party was not ready to listen to the truth.
