Society of Southeastern Social Psychologists

Founded in 1978 by a group of social psychologists at the University of Georgia, the Society of Southeastern Social Psychologists (SSSP) boasts a membership of over 400 students, faculty, and professional psychologists throughout the United States. The SSSP Annual Conference has a long-standing tradition of bringing together personality and social psychologists from across the southeast United States. We anticipate 200 attendees for a day-long program of presenting research and connecting with colleagues. Graduate Student Panel

We will host a graduate student discussion panel where current graduate students share advice and insights about what it takes to navigate the grad school application process, what it's like to be a graduate student and other topics of interest. We are currently accepting applications from current graduate students to be a part of this panel discussion. Students from any graduate program are welcome to apply; we are hoping for a diverse panel with students who are in both master's and Ph.D. programs, as well as students who are in areas outside of social/personality psychology.

Job Market Panel

This year SSSP will be hosting a job-market panel for earlier career researchers about the job market! Panelists will offer perspectives and answer questions about selecting and identifying jobs to apply to, how to prepare materials, and the interviewing process. We are currently accepting (self, or other) nominations to be a part of this panel discussion. Social psychologists from all institutions (teaching, research focused, and also non-academic) are encouraged to participate in the panel, and self-nominations are welcome.

The submission portal for the conference will open on August 14, 2024, and will close on September 4, 2024, at 11:59 PM PT. Submissions for posters, individual talks, symposia, and data bytes will be accepted.

Housing opens on August 8, 2024. The deadline to reserve housing at our negotiated group rate ($171 USD) is Wednesday, October 9, 2024.

• Rate is not inclusive of current state sales tax (9.75%), occupancy tax (8.5%), and a Tourism Improvement District fee of $2.00 per room, per night. (Fees and taxes are subject to change without notice.)
• A credit card is required to guarantee your reservation. A deposit equal to the room rate and tax for the first night of the reservation is required. The deposit is refundable if the cancellation occurs at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled arrival.
• A $25 housing fee will be applied to your registration fee if you purchase housing accommodations outside of the official SPSP housing block. Exceptions will be made for anyone living locally and commuting to the conference, staying with friends/family who live locally, or registering for the conference after the official housing block has filled.

Most members hail from the following states: Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, and Florida.

There are no dues or fees associated with membership in SSSP. We do, however, ask for voluntary contributions at our annual Fall conference. These contributions support the Outstanding Graduate Student Research Awards, which are given to the best graduate student research presentations at our annual Fall conference.

The Society of Southeastern Social Psychologists (SSSP) is a separate informal entity from SPSP guided by their own Advisory Board. The Annual Meeting program is the responsibility of the SSSP organizers. The program content should not be considered an endorsement by SPSP. SPSP provides logistical support, such as registration management, marketing, and contracting.
