📊 New Insights on the Impact of Accelerators and Incubators! 📊 A groundbreaking study by Wharton researcher Valentina Assenova (2024) has shed light on the significant benefits that accelerators and incubators provide to startups. Analyzing 8,580 startups from 408 programs across 176 countries between 2013 and 2019, the study reveals compelling data on how these programs drive startup success. 💡 Key Findings: Venture Capital Funding: - Accelerated startups are 3.4% more likely to secure VC funding compared to non-participants. - On average, these startups raised $1.8 million more in VC funding and planned to raise $2.64 million more in the 12 months post-acceleration. Revenue and Employment: - Startups in accelerators and incubators generated significantly higher sales revenue. - These startups hired more full-time employees and offered higher wages, contributing positively to the economy. Program Design Impact: - Knowledge Depth vs. Breadth: Industry-specific cohorts led to greater revenue scaling, while industry-agnostic cohorts resulted in more substantial funding. - Knowledge-Building Programming: Elements such as formal pitching events, structured curricula, and industry insights were linked to improved startup performance.
