PEER-REVIEW PROCESS

It is a refereed publication that uses the external peer-review system, in accordance with APA 7.0 (American Psychological Association) publication standards. Compliance with these requirements facilitates its indexation in the main international databases of journals in the specialty, guaranteeing greater dissemination of the published works and, therefore, of its authors and work centers.

Manuscripts must be submitted exclusively through the platform provided for this purpose: https://ojs.ual.es/ojs/index.php/KASP/about/submissions, using the journal template. Author may submit or have under review two manuscripts simultaneously, estimating a lack of four consecutive issues.

In general, once the external scientific reviews have been seen, the criteria that justify the decision on the acceptance/rejection of the papers by the Editorial Board are the following:

  1. Currentness
  2. Originality
  3. Relevance and significance: advancement of scientific
  4. Reliability and scientific validity: proven methodological
  5. Organization (logical coherence and formal presentation).

COPYRIGHT AND LICENSING

Each author will submit a responsible declaration of authorship and originality, as well as the ethical responsibilities undertaken, together with a declaration of conflict of interest. In this way, it will be explicitly stated that the authors are aware that previously published material is not accepted and are responsible for obtaining the appropriate permissions to partially reproduce material from other publications and to cite its source correctly. Therefore, they are aware that all papers will be subjected to content evaluation with an anti-plagiarism tool (Turnitin) to preserve copyright. Likewise, the list of authors must include only those who have contributed intellectually to the development of the work.

We are licensed under Creative Common License CC BY-NC 4.0 Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial CC BY-NC 4.0 International License. The readers are allowed to download, print or search links to the full text of the articles or use them for any other lawful purpose except for commercialization, provided the author and the journal are credited and cited.

In summary, the authors are responsible for obtaining the relevant permissions to reproduce copyright-protected material. The authors must also declare possible conflicts of interest. If an article is accepted for publication, the authors must sign an agreement assigning copyright rights to the journal, thus the rights for printing or reproduction in any form or medium belong to KASP, which will not reject any reasonable request from the authors for permission to reproduce their contributions.

AUTHOR FEES

"KASP is an open access scientific journal that offers its entire production online in open access to the entire scientific community. Likewise, it does not establish any economic fee during the entire editorial process for the publication of the articles, including the scientific review and layout of the articles.

PROCESS FOR IDENTIFICATION OF AND DEALING WITH ALLEGATIONS OF RESEARCH MISCONDUCT

At Know & Share Psychology, we deal with allegations of scientific misconduct on a case to case basis following guidance provided by Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), (COPE), World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). WAME provides an overview of misconduct, using an amended version of the US Office of Research Integrity definition of scientific misconduct including:

Falsification of data

Ranging from fabrication to deceptive selective reporting of findings and omission of conflicting data, or willful suppression and/or distortion of data.

Plagiarism

The appropriation of the language, ideas, or thoughts of another without crediting their true source, and representation of them as one's own original work.

Improprieties of authorship

Improper assignment of credit, such as excluding others, misrepresentation of the same material as original in more than one publication, inclusion of individuals as authors who have not made a definite contribution to the work published; or submission of multi- authored publications without the concurrence of all authors.

Misappropriation of the ideas of others

An important aspect of scholarly activity is the exchange of ideas among colleagues. Scholars can acquire novel ideas from others during the process of reviewing grant applications and manuscripts. However, improper use of such information can constitute fraud. Wholesale appropriation of such material constitutes misconduct.

Violation   of   generally               accepted research practices

Serious deviation from accepted practices in proposing or carrying out research, improper manipulation of experiments to obtain biased results, deceptive statistical or analytical manipulations, or improper reporting of results.

Material failure to comply with legislative and regulatory requirements affecting research:

Including but not limited to serious or substantial, repeated, willful violations of applicable local regulations and law involving the use of funds, care of animals, human subjects, investigational drugs, recombinant products, new devices, or radioactive, biologic, or chemical materials.

Inappropriate behavior in relation to misconduct

This includes unfounded or knowingly false accusations of misconduct, failure to report known or suspected misconduct, withholding or destruction of information relevant to a claim of misconduct and retaliation against persons involved in the allegation or investigation.

If an editor has concerns that a submitted article describes something that might be considered to constitute misconduct in research, publication, we may discuss the case in confidence. The case will be process based upon the deliberations of the KASP Ethics Committee. The committee may decide to contact author for clarification, if the case cannot be resolved by discussion with the author(s), and the committee still has concerns, he/she may report the case to the appropriate authorities.

PUBLICATION ETHICS

KASP publishes articles in which the authors must indicate the data, methods used in the analysis and materials used to carry out the research, making them available to readers for the purpose of reproducing the results or replicating the procedure. Therefore, authors should indicate in notes whether or not they will make their data, analytical methods and study materials available to other researchers. Thus, authors are encouraged to pre-register the manuscript prior to submission, provided that this is detailed in the submission process.

KASP aims to adhere to COPE Authorship and contribution for publication

Authorship

  1. Author and Non-Author Contributors

The journal considers corresponding author as the one who takes primary responsibility for responding to editorial queries in a timely way during the manuscript submission, peer review, and publication process. The journal considers authorship on following four criteria as recommended by ICMJE:

  • Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work

  • Drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content

  • Final approval of the version to be published

  • Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and

Contributors who do not meet the above four criteria for authorship are not considered authors, but non-author contributors, and should be acknowledged. It is the responsibility of the corresponding author, and not the journal, to determine that all persons named as authors meet the four criteria and to ensure that non- author contributors are acknowledged. The journal will not accept any request for deletion or addition of an author after submission or publication of the manuscript.

  1. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors must respect all principles of authorship and declaration of conflict of interest in the submission process. Authors are responsible for any information written/reported/reported in the submitted manuscript. It is the author's responsibility to obtain signed permission from the copyright holder to use and reproduce text, illustrations, tables, etc., previously published in other journals, electronic or print media.

Authors are not permitted to post the work on any website/blog/forum/board or at any other place, by any means, from the time such work is submitted to the Life and Science until the final decision on the paper has been given to them. In case a manuscript is accepted for publication, the authors may not post the work in its entirety on any website/blog/forum/board or at any other place, by any means, till the paper is published in the KASP.

The authors may, however, post the title, authors’ names and their affiliations and abstract, with the following statement on the first page of the paper - "The manuscript has been accepted for publication in the KASP". After publication of the article, it may be posted anywhere with full journal citation included.

Complaints and Appeals

All appeals and complaints regarding (but not limited to) misconduct, authorship disputes or plagiarism in KASP publications will be directed to the KASP Complaints and Appeals Scrutiny Committee. The articles have been rejected have the right to send a letter of appeal giving detailed explanations. Rejected articles have the right to send a letter of appeal with detailed explanations, which will be reviewed internally and decided accordingly. Revised articles will not be considered at this stage.

Conflict of Interest

The journal considers a conflict of interest to exist when professional judgement regarding a primary interest (such as patient welfare or research validity) may be influenced by a secondary interest (such as financial gain). The journal requires that all participants in the peer review and publication process, including authors, reviewers, editors, and editorial board members, disclose all relationships that may be considered as potential conflicts of interest. The manuscript will be published with disclosure and funding sources. If the authors do not mention any conflict of interest, the publisher will default to the following statement: "The authors declare that they have no conflict of interest". Authors are required to disclose any sponsorship or funding received from any institution related to their research. Following identification of any conflict of interest, editors may require further information from the author which may include acknowledgement of financial support/sponsorship for their contribution, any financial involvement and whether they have signed an agreement with any sponsor of the research.

Data Sharing and Reproducibility

During peer review, editors and reviewers have access to the methods, results and discussion provided by the authors in the submitted research articles, including appendices. However, KASP does not have access to or store the raw data related to the research studies, and verification of the data remains the responsibility of the authors who have conducted the original research. At the time of submission, authors are asked to confirm that more than one author has directly accessed and verified the data presented in the research paper, and that all authors have had access to the data and accept responsibility for submitting the paper for publication. It is the  author's responsibility to obtain all permissions before submitting the manuscript. No part of the journal may be reproduced, stored in a retrieval system, or transmitted in any form or by any other means, electronic, mechanical, photocopying, recording, or otherwise, without the prior written permission of KASP. This journal requires that all research papers include a data sharing statement from the authors detailing what data will be shared, whether additional documents will be shared, when the data will be available, and according to what access criteria the data will be shared.

Ethical Oversight

This journal follows COPE guidelines on Ethical oversight. According to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), ethical oversight should include, among other things, policies on consent to publication, publication on vulnerable populations, ethical conduct in animal research, ethical conduct in human research, handling of confidential data, and ethical business/marketing practices. For studies involving data relating to experimental research involving humans or animals, approval by the appropriate institutional review board is required and must be described in the article. In the case of research involving human subjects, authors must explain how informed consent was obtained from participants. Patients have a right to privacy, which should not be violated without informed consent. Identifying information should not be included unless the information is essential for scientific purposes and the patient (or his/her parents or legal guardians) give written informed consent for publication. When informed consent has been obtained, it should be indicated in the manuscript. In order to maintain patient anonymity, identifying data should be omitted when not essential. However, patient data should never be altered or falsified. Informed consent should be obtained whenever there is any doubt that anonymity can be guaranteed. All manuscripts published in KASP must have been conducted in accordance with international and local guidelines that ensure ethically conducted research. Ethical approval for all studies must be obtained prior to conducting the research. Authors must be willing to provide further information to the journal editor upon request.

Intellectual Property

Life and Science understands that copyright is part of the larger framework of intellectual property rights. The journal allows authors to retain the copyright of their work. They can claim copyright and full intellectual property rights, provided the right of first publication stands with KASP. The Journal or the Publisher does not hold any commercial rights. We recommend our authors to visit DOAJ Copyright Licensing Series which focuses on the details of copyright and licensing.

Post-Publication Discussion and Corrections

KASP publishes corrections only when significant errors arise from author error or editorial mistakes. If there is a serious complaint about a journal’s own procedures, the managing editor will confer with the corresponding author and any relevant members of the editorial board in order to resolve the problem. The advisory board of Journal will be consulted if further guidance is required.

The journal discusses matters of debates as letters to the editor or as print/electronic correspondence, or as posts in a journal-sponsored online forum. The journal considers all updates of previous publications (e.g., an updated systematic review or clinical guideline) as new publication rather than a version of a previously published article. A correction will be published in the journal if honest scientific error of fact is made The journal will follow ICMJE standards for publication of correction:

  • The journal will publish a correction notice as soon as possible detailing changes from and citing the original
  • The journal will also post a new article version with details of the changes from the original
  • The journal will archive all prior versions of the
  • The citation will be to the most recent
  • Retraction with republication by the journal will only be consider when the errors are judged to be unintentional but has led to a major change in the direction or significance of the results or

Papers should be submitted in Times New Roman 12 font, 1.5 line spacing, left justified and with tabs at the beginning of each paragraph. The page should have two cm. in all margins. Papers must be submitted in Word for PC. The file must be anonymized in File Properties so that the authors' identification does not appear. Publication standards are based on APA 7: (http://bit.ly/2JkuWs8).

Two files should be submitted simultaneously: 1) Cover page with complete author information; 2) Manuscript without author information; 3) Signed statement indicating that it is an original contribution, if there is funding and confirming authorship and ethical standards of the journal's editorial board.

As for the cover page, the name of the authors, in order of priority, the professional category, e-mail and ORCID number (http://orcid.org) should appear on the cover page. It is also necessary to clearly indicate who the corresponding author is.

As for the manuscript, the file will contain:

Citations should be taken from the original documents -preferably journals and to a lesser extent books- always indicating the initial and final page of the work from which they come, except for complete works. Given the importance for citation indexes and impact factor calculations, the correct citation will be valued according to the APA 7.0 Standard (http://bit.ly/2JkuWs8), the same that should be followed for tables and figures, valuing that there are not only national references, but also prestigious international

PUBLISHING SCHEDULE

This journal published manuscript for psychological, educational, and social purposes, oriented to a wide range of professions: Psychology, Psychiatry, Sociology, Education and Social Work, among others. It is especially dedicated to those professionals interested in the search for solutions to the main problems of our time.

It accepts theoretical papers as well as empirical studies and case studies. The publication is in Spanish, with title and abstract in Spanish and English, in electronic format and free dissemination, without processing costs.

Papers must be original, without having been published in any media or being in the process of publication, being the responsibility of the authors to comply with this rule. Failure to comply with this rule will be grounds for rejection of the manuscript.

All contributions should contain between 5,000 and 7,000 words including references. The papers submitted may be assigned to the "General" section (varied topics within the general theme of the journal), or to the "Thematic" section, previously planned monographs, which are coordinated by international Thematic Editors, with public call for papers through the "Call for papers".

If papers are received on dates related to the topics of the monographs, the Editors may send the manuscripts to the Thematic Editors for their evaluation and possible publication, if appropriate, in the monograph. These are closed at least six months prior to the publication of the journal.

Proceeding

"KASP" acknowledges receipt of the papers sent by the authors and informs by e-mail and on the platform of the process of estimation/rejection, and acceptance/rejection, as well as, in case of acceptance, of the editing process.

Within a maximum period of 30 days from the receipt of each paper, they will receive notification of receipt, indicating whether the paper is rejected or preliminarily estimated for evaluation by the scientific advisors. In case the manuscript presents formal deficiencies or is not included in the thematic focus of the publication, the Editorial Board will formally or thematically reject the work without the option to return without further correspondence with authors of rejected articles. On the other hand, if it presents superficial formal deficiencies, it will be returned to the author for correction before the start of the evaluation process. The date of entry of the paper will not be counted until the manuscript has been correctly received.

It is strongly recommended that the manuscript be checked by self-checking before submission. Manuscripts will be scientifically evaluated, anonymously, by two experts in the subject matter (double blind). In view of the external reports, the acceptance/rejection of the articles for publication will be decided, as well as the introduction, if necessary, of the appropriate modifications, in terms of length, structure or style, respecting the content of the original.

The deadline for the scientific evaluation of papers, once the previous evaluation procedures by the Editorial Board have been completed, is 90 days at the most. However, the average time for scientific review is 50 days and for final acceptance is 60 calendar days. Positively evaluated papers that require modifications (both minor and major) will be returned within a maximum of 15 days. All authors will receive the scientific evaluation reports, anonymously, so that they can make (if necessary) the appropriate improvements or replications.

The authors of accepted articles, before the final edition, will receive the proofs for their correction by e-mail in PDF format, for their orthographic-typographic correction in a maximum of 3 days. Only minor corrections can be made to the content of the original manuscript already evaluated. Once the manuscript is finally accepted, the authors will submit the final version in Spanish, with title and abstract in Spanish and English, to which they may optionally attach an English version of the manuscript if the authors so wish.

ACCESS

KASP is an “open access” journal. All of the articles will always be free to those who want to read or download them. The journal does not charge any fee for full text and reuse is permitted in accordance with the terms of the Creative Common Attribution 4.0 International (CC- BY 4.0) license

DIGITAL ARCHIVING

The KASP aims to preserve all the published content on digital repositories. In order to follow that, the KAPS commits to submit the metadata of all its manuscripts to LOCKSS as we have recently implemented the use of the OJS (Open Journal System). This service is free for the OJS users. This is to ensure the availability of the published scholarly content by KASP to the community despite any accidental loss of data in its personal archival records. Besides, KASP also assigns Digital Object Identifiers (DOI) to all its issues and the contents to facilitate reaching their permanent links on the internet.
