PSG Talon (formerly Talon Esports) is a professional esports organization in partnership with Paris Saint-Germain eSports.
History[edit]
PSG Talon competes in the Pacific Championship Series (PCS), the premier professional League of Legends competition incluiding Hong Kong, Southeast Asia, Taiwan, Macau, and Oceania. The team has achieved notable success in the PCS, winning six out of the league's eight championships and qualifying for the World Championship three times, in 2020, 2021, and 2023.
In 2019, Talon Esports was announced as one of the 10 teams participating in the PCS[1]. Their roster was announced in 2020, consisting of Hanabi, River, Candy, Unified and Kaiwing. They won their debut season, with a 3-2 victory against Machi Esports in the Spring finals. Unfortunately, MSI 2020 was cancelled, which meant no full international debut for the team. Despite this, they faced the Vietnamese teams at the Mid Season Showdown and won the title by beating Team Flash 3-1 in the finals. Ahead of the Summer Season, they partnered with Paris Saint-Germain eSports to rebrand to PSG Talon. In this split, they placed second following a 0-3 defeat against Machi Esports. At Worlds 2020, PSG Talon placed 9-12th following a 2/-/4 record in their group.
In 2021, PSG Talon signed Maple as a new midlaner [2]. They went 17-1 in the regular season and swept J Team and Beyond Gaming to win the title and qualify for MSI 2021. This is where they placed top 4, securing a pool 1 slot for their region for Worlds 2021. PSG Talon went undefeated in Summer 2021, but lost a game against Beyond Gaming in playoffs which ended their streak. Despite that, they won the split by beating Beyond Gaming 3-2 in the finals. This resulted in them qualifying directly for Worlds 2021. They started their first week well, going 2-1 with wins against Hanwha Life Esports and Fnatic, but the team came short in week 2 and was eliminated in 9-12th place with a 3/-/3 record, behind Royal Never Give Up and Hanwha Life Esports.
