We recently joined the Jobtech Alliance, an ecosystem-building initiative around inclusive jobtech in Africa 🌍 It's been a pleasure interacting with passionate founders and interesting companies creating opportunities for work throughout the continent 👩💻 Rafiki's Mission is to progress careers & increase earnings for independent workers and small-agency owners across Africa ✊ We're doing this by challenging the way startup and SMB teams are structured, projects are managed, and contingent workers are paid, to ensure fast, flexible, skill-specific talent delivers high-value services ✔ In the lead-up to the private beta launch of our platform, Rafiki X, we're actively engaging with exceptional freelancers, independent agency owners, and strategic partners within the freelance economy. If you're interested in getting involved, please feel free to get in touch 📨 #jobtech #hrtech #freelancework

As #refugees rebuild their lives in new communities, one of the biggest challenges they face is access to economic opportunities and sustainable #livelihoods. The digital economy presents a new pathway for refugee employment and #entrepreneurship by creating flexible work prospects that can provide income, independence, and dignity. Through collaborations with digital platforms, refugee-led organizations, and training partners, we at the Jobtech Alliance have been exploring what's necessary to enable refugees to connect to these #work opportunities. From providing targeted training to facilitating access to platforms, our efforts aim to bridge the gap. On this #WorldRefugeeDay, I invite you to learn more about our work in bridging the unemployment gap for refugees: https://lnkd.in/dV9bXQb3 You can also join our team at the upcoming Migration Summit on June 26th, 3 pm EAT, as we share insights on the challenges and opportunities for refugees seeking work through digital platforms: https://lnkd.in/dJSvfr_G

What do you do when users decide to step away from your platform and transact directly with each other? This was the topic of discussion at the fireside chat during Jobtech Alliance meet-up in Nairobi on 30th May 2024. I was honored to be invited as a panelist alongside Liwali Kivumanyuki from FUNDIS APP and Joshua Mwaniki from Jipamba, where we shared our experiences dealing with cutouts, their impact on our businesses, and possible mitigation measures. The Jobtech Alliance is an ecosystem of job platforms, entrepreneurs, support organisations, researchers and policymakers collaborating to connect people with work opportunities that improve livelihoods.
