Pakistan has experienced immense displacement, from the 1947 partition to the super floods of 2022, which alone displaced millions. This event will provide a platform to explore viable pathways to dignified work and self-employment for refugees and marginalized communities. As of April 2024, #Malaysia is home to over 188,210 #refugees and asylum-seekers registered with UNHCR. Despite the legal constraints preventing refugees from working legally, PichaEats has been creatively engaging refugee talents through gig and remote work for the past nine years.
