Our manufacturing site in Taloja, Maharashtra, was recently awarded with the ‘Zero Accident Club’ award, and the team used the opportunity to give back to the community. We used this recognition to support a rural school that lacked access to clean drinking water by donating an RO water cooler and purifier. Now, over 250 students have access to safe and hygienic water. We also provided stationery kits to further support their educational journey. 📚✏️ This initiative highlights our commitment to safety and our dedication to making a positive difference in the communities we serve. As climate change and environmental challenges persist, #WorldEnvironmentDay reminds us of the importance of reducing carbon emissions and embracing our environmental responsibility. We aim to improve the environmental footprint of our operations and products whilst maximizing the positive impacts for our stakeholders, consumers and society.   In addition to our actions on carbon neutrality, energy efficiency, and waste reduction, here are steps we've taken towards land restoration, stopping desertification, and building drought resilience: 💧 In 2023, we completed water risk assessments for all our manufacturing plants in India, helping us manage water usage more effectively. 🌾 This year, we are developing water stewardship plans for three of our manufacturing plants in India to build drought resilience in the area of operations. 🌳 Additionally, all our sites are undergoing biodiversity risk assessments based on the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) guidelines to address potential impacts on local ecosystems.   Learn more about our 2030 ambitions and our ongoing efforts to minimize our environmental footprint here: https://lnkd.in/d2RHx8aA #WED2024 #ClimateAction #Biodiversity #CircularEconomy

We are happy to announce that our Khopoli plant has received the ISCC - International Sustainability and Carbon Certification, marking a significant milestone for us. As the first Huhtamaki site in India to achieve ISCC PLUS certification and one of the only four flexible packaging manufacturing units in the country with this recognition, we are proud to strengthen our commitment to bringing circularity to flexible packaging. Today, on International Day for Biological Diversity, we want to share what Huhtamaki is doing to minimize its negative impacts on biodiversity. Addressing biodiversity and ecosystems is an essential part of Huhtamaki's journey to protect food, people, and the planet. As a business that relies on the use of natural resources, we understand that the availability and quality of these resources are dependent on the health of ecosystems, which, in turn, depends on biodiversity. That's why we're committed to taking action to protect and enhance biodiversity throughout our value chain. To establish a solid and science-based foundation for our nature work, we have recently started to systematically assess our impacts and dependencies on nature across the value chain. This information will help us better understand what and where our nature 'hotspots' are, so that we can steer our actions where they're needed most. Additionally, we have an increasing focus on water where we aim to understand the impacts of our water use and build mitigation plans for those impacts. Our Q1 2024 results are now published. 📈 Reflecting on the performance, Mr. Dhananjay Salunkhe, Managing Director, shared,” Despite facing challenges stemming from softer demand and external supply chain dynamics, we've shown resilience in our operations. Though revenue saw a decline due to these factors, our EBIT % increased marginally to 6.7%. One of the highlights of this quarter was the commissioning of our new blueloop™ facility at our Silvassa plant. This strategic investment positions us to offer innovative, recyclable packaging solutions to our customers.
