How to Access Counseling Services

If you are currently in crisis or have an urgent or emergent concern and wish to speak with a counselor immediately, please contact our 24/7 on-call counselor at 215.416.3337. If this is a psychological emergency and you need immediate attention, please dial 911, call Drexel Public Safety at 215.895.2222, or visit your nearest emergency room.

We are located at:

201 Creese Student Center
3210 Chestnut St.
Philadelphia PA 19104

The Counseling Center also has embedded therapists at the Center for Black Culture, the Student Health Center, and in Athletics for student athletes. Students also have access to our online library of Self-Help Resources. This means you can get support on a range of topics on your own terms and work at your own pace. We have compiled a list of websites, apps, and video recordings of some of our most popular Center workshops.

Making an Appointment

You can reach us Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evening appointments may be available for co-op students by request. If you would like to make an appointment for therapy, please email counsel@drexel.edu, call us at 215.895.1415, or walk over.  Services are free and confidential.

Students will be asked to complete the following steps when scheduling a first-time appointment:

  1. You will be expected to call or email to make your own appointment and answer a few brief questions so that we can best assist you.
  2. Once you have confirmed the date and time of your appointment, you will receive an email response, which will include information about two additional email notifications you will receive before your meeting time.
  3. You must follow the instructions in the email for treatment at the Counseling Center to begin. They include the steps to complete paperwork through an online system and approval of a meeting request via Zoom. Please leave yourself ample time to complete all first-time paperwork, as it can take up to 20 minutes.
  4. IMPORTANT: ALL PAPERWORK MUST BE COMPLETED AT LEAST TWO HOURS BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT TIME OR ELSE YOU WILL BE ASKED TO RESCHEDULE. If you cannot make your scheduled appointment, please reschedule within 24 hours’ notice.

If you have questions about this process, please email counsel@drexel.edu.

Missed Attendance Policy

We request 24-hour's notice when canceling an appointment to help other students looking to schedule. If you fail to attend a scheduled appointment without notification or do not cancel at least 24 hours in advance, it is considered a missed session. Students who have three missed sessions in a rolling three-month period, including intake appointments, will lose eligibility for counseling services and will not be scheduled another appointment for the remainder of the term, or if it occurs at the end of the quarter will not be scheduled during the next term. In this case, the Center can assist the student in finding a referral in the community.
