Our plant vacations are over, and we hope all colleagues had a great time. Some of them took electric cars on the road. Our Teamlead of Inhouse Logistics Technology, Philipp, shares his insights from an incredible trip through Austria, Italy, and Slovenia. ⚡️ 🚙🌍 Preparation: “I started with app research on public charging, fully charged my ID.7 at home, and arranged hotel EV charging in advance.” Experience: “My expectations were exceeded: I had amazing fast charge stops, combined with coffee and stretching sessions, and experienced an incredible uphill acceleration.” Memories: “I remember the breathtaking drives through the Alps and the interesting conversations with other electric vehicle enthusiasts.” Advice: “Just do it! Use VW’s dynamic route planning, keep speeds under 130 km/h, and bring an adapter cable for slow charging.” Philipp's journey with his VW ID.7 was memorable and much more relaxing than expected. The current EV market is challenging Europe's emerging battery industry. Our CEO, Frank Blome, spoke with the German magazine Handelsblatt about PowerCo's business development and gives an optimistic outlook: ⚡️ Long-term Goals: EVs and battery cells remain a long-term growth market. Demand for EVs is picking up again and PowerCo has the flexibility to respond to the market. ⚡️ Standardized Advantage: The Unified Cell format offers a key competitive edge as it is ready for all leading chemistries and enables a stable ramp-up of production. ⚡️ Resource Security: We have already secured about 80% of our raw materials demand by 2028. The joint venture with Umicore for cathode material production will further strengthen the development of a local supply chain in Europe. PowerCo is one of the few battery cell companies born in Europe and with gigafactories in Europe and North America. Transformation on site. During a visit to the construction site of our gigafactory in Spain, our CFO at #PowerCo Spain, Javier Rivera Jornet, highlighted aspects of sustainability. "All of this will be done with a clear sustainability perspective, as our project and the promotion of electromobility are inseparable from environmental protection and respect.” The current phase of the work lasts approximately 6 months and includes the installation of large drainage and water pipes. And with that we will ensure much more efficient reuse of clean and grey water on our site. This will reduce the discharge of clean water to the treatment plant and encourage its reinfiltration into the land. #Gigafactory #Sustainability #Batterytechnology

Progress update on our gigafactory development in 📍 Sagunto, Spain: “After a few intense months of planning, we began a much more dynamic and active phase of the work,” said Javier Rivera Jornet, CFO of PowerCo Spain. Our new CEO of #PowerCo Spain, Andreas Rottmann, visited the construction site with the president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazón Guixot, the minister of the environment, Vicente Martínez, and the mayor of Sagunto, Dario Moreno Lerga. The infrastructure work has been completed and the focus is now on the water pipes and drainage work. We are committed to efficiently reusing clean and gray water on site, reducing discharge to treatment plants and ensuring that construction work can continue even during major flooding. Looking ahead: during the fall months, work on the site will intensify significantly with the completion of the water pipe work, the start of foundation work and the lifting of the first precast structures so that building construction of the future warehouses can begin by the end of the year. On your marks, get set, go! 🏃♂️ Around 20 #PowerColleagues joined the “International Health.Care.Run.“ in Salzgitter at the end of June.  Those runs take place around the world, where employees from the Volkswagen Group and other companies get the chance to run on the respective factory premises. The goal is to do something for their health and the team spirit, while at the same time collecting donations for charitable causes.   Our #PowerTeam ran alongside 160 enthusiastic runners. The weather was perfect, and our team ran a collective distance of 900 km, showcasing incredible energy and spirit.  We are proud of you. Thank you for joining and making this event such a blast. ¡Vamos España! The Spanish team has won the UEFA European Football Championship – and PowerCo is cheering the winners. With our upcoming Gigafactory in Valencia, we are an integral part of the Spanish community. And of course we’ve kept our fingers crossed: around 98 percent of all PowerCo colleagues had bet on Spain before the final! 🇪🇸 Congrats to Spain, to the Spanish soccer team and to our colleagues at PowerCo Spain! 🙌 The atmosphere over the past four weeks has been incredible, both in Germany and throughout Europe. We've got another #PowerUpdate for you. PowerCo and QuantumScape have entered into an agreement to industrialize solid-state batteries as the next-generation technology. 🔋  QuantumScape is a California-based startup which was founded in 2010 as a spin-off from Stanford University to develop solid-state batteries. Their technology platform is based on the company’s proprietary solid-state ceramic separator, which enables the use of a pure lithium-metal anode. This is a transformative innovation that is designed for exceptional energy and power density, fast charging and a robust safety profile.  With the new agreement, a large, dedicated team composed of experts from both companies, will execute the industrialization activities. Given successful technical progress, PowerCo can produce battery cells based on QuantumScape's solid-state technology with up to 40 gigawatt-hours (GWh) per year.  The agreement supersedes an earlier joint venture between the Volkswagen Group and QuantumScape to co-manufacture batteries. Both companies are convinced that the new agreement represents the fastest way to achieve gigawatt-hour-scale production of solid-state technology. We are proud to announce that #PowerCo has been honored with the SAP Quality Award 2024 in the “SAP S/4HANA Cloud Solution” category. 🏆 This recognition highlights our commitment to excellence in implementation, efficiency and cooperation.   The Quality Awards are presented annually to the most successful implementations of SAP applications and their management.   Together with SAP, the PowerCo ERP Program team implemented the SAP S/4HANA Cloud for our headquarters and for the battery cell production gigafactories in Valencia and Salzgitter in April 2023. Four more releases have already taken place since then to implement new functionalities and further enhance the system. The jury particularly appreciated the fact that the system was implemented both in good quality and in the shortest possible time. Based on this cloud-based software, PowerCo is establishing state-of-the-art ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software for all core processes. Standardization with SAP S/4 HANA is the basis for innovations and a faster rollout of new solutions and enables data consistency along the entire value chain.   Implementation is also planned in Canada by the end of this year.  #Batterytechnology #Innovation #SAP
