Four years ago, the Morrow Cell Factory was just a business idea. From concept to plan, and from plan to groundbreaking, this journey has been remarkable. Two years ago, the Norwegian Prime Minister Mr. Jonas Gahr Støre, laid the cornerstone. Come August, we are proud to open the doors to Europe's first Giga-scale LFP battery factory in Arendal. This milestone is a testament to the competence and dedication of our team, owners, politicians and partners. All eyes on India this week🔋👀 India Energy Storage Week (IESW) is on and showcases the many ways India is accelerating its progress toward becoming a green superpower. Some backdrop: ⚡️The country aims to achieve 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based electricity generation by 2030, with its installed renewable energy capacity expected to reach 170 GW by March 2025, up from 132 GW in October 2023. 🏅India is the world's third-largest renewable energy producer and ranks third on the EY Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Index. ☀️India has seen serious growth in solar energy, with large-scale projects like the Bhadla Solar Park in Rajasthan and supportive government policies for domestic solar manufacturing through the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. 🌬️India is also the fourth-largest wind power producer globally. All this is backed by policies and partnerships to build momentum. This is good news for the planet and for the energy storage industry. With increasing market maturity worldwide, we all win. There is no time for business as usual. The world must swiftly transition to renewable energy and electrified transport to prevent devastating temperature increases. The below illustration highlights the rapid pace and significant scale of the transformation required. We must move away from the 'business as usual' scenario, which involves continued high investment in coal, oil, and gas and ever-growing global CO2 emissions. Instead, replacing fossil fuels with renewable energy can help bend the curve. Our batteries will be used in energy storage systems that support wind and solar installations and electric vehicles. This will help avoid large amounts of carbon dioxide emissions and contribute to solving the climate crisis. This is our #mission2morrow

Our Sustainability Director Dr Stina Torjesen presented an update on Morrow to the Nordic sustainable finance community in a panel at Norsif last week. Stina noted that the quest for more sustainable battery cells along side attention to European safety of supplies and geopolitical de-risking drive customer interest in Morrow.
