📸 Behind the Scenes of the opening of our test field for hydrogen-powered port operations and the corresponding hydrogen refuelling station at our Container Terminal Tollerort in Hamburg. The dull weather during the opening ceremony could not dampen the excitement of having reached this important milestone on the way to decarbonising logistics. 🌟 On the test field we will test and optimise concepts for operation, safety, maintenance, refuelling, and supply of heavy goods vehicles. The refuelling station is open to the public, offering other companies the chance to test climate-friendly transport solutions. 🌱💚 #HHLA #logistics #hydrogen #innovation

Today we reached a major milestone toward decarbonising logistics 🚀 We have opened the first test field for hydrogen-powered port operations and a corresponding hydrogen refuelling station at our Container Terminal Tollerort in Hamburg. In collaboration with partners from our Clean Port & Logistics cluster, we are testing the reliability of hydrogen for heavy goods vehicles during operations. Equipment like straddle carriers, empty container stackers, forklift trucks, reach stackers, tractor units, and trucks can now be efficiently filled with green hydrogen at 350 bar. The refuelling station is open to the public, offering other companies the chance to test climate-friendly transport solutions. 🌱💚 Since 2022, we have been collaborating with over 40 partner companies worldwide to develop market-ready hydrogen-powered vehicles and equipment. The concepts for operation, safety, maintenance, refuelling, and supply are now tested and optimised at the test field. #HHLA #logistics #hydrogen #innovation

🌞 We love sunshine - especially when it helps us reach our goal of achieving climate neutrality across the entire group by 2040. Our rail subsidiary METRANS Group has integrated a cutting-edge photovoltaic plant into the energy mix earlier this year. The 12 MW plant, located in Schleswig-Holstein, will cover approximately 10 % of the annual energy consumption of the locomotives in Germany. Railway operations have already been operating on 100% green electricity. By now generating a portion of this electricity ourselves, we’re taking our commitment to the next level 🚀 🌱 🤝 The project is powered by a partnership with ENERPARC AG and its subsidiary Sunnic Lighthouse GmbH who will operate the plant exclusively for us. The rail power supplier, Stadtwerke Tübingen GmbH will seamlessly integrate the electricity into the energy mix. #HHLA #sustainability #solar #rail

Once again this year, we had the pleasure of hosting three dual students from ITS Accademia Nautica dell'Adriatico for a three-month internship at our multi-purpose terminal HHLA PLT Italy in Trieste, our logistics hub in the Adriatic and a key part of our European network. Thank you Federico, Nicholas and Simone for your valuable contribution! Each student was assigned to a different department, allowing them to acquire diverse skills in various branches of logistics, while also gaining a comprehensive overview of all aspects of our terminal. 📊 Federico at Commercial & Sales: Federico was instrumental in collecting and organising data for container VGM invoicing, managing and improving data collection procedures for terminal inspections, and supporting the organisation of commercial events. 📋 Nicholas at the Control Room: Nicholas managed incoming documentation from agencies and customers, supported operational activities, and assisted in the planning of terminal operations. 🏗️ Simone at General Cargo: Simone handled warehouse management, customs processing, loading arrangements, and related documentation management. We are grateful to ITS Accademia Nautica dell'Adriatico for the continued partnership and for connecting us with young individuals passionate about the logistics industry 🙌🏻 #HHLA #logistics #traineeship
