#MovingTheFuture At our joint-venture HVCC Hamburg Vessel Coordination Center GmbH, we are focused on improving port operations with advanced digital processes that make port calls and round trips more efficient and sustainable. As the only central, neutral, and inter-company coordination hub in the Port of Hamburg, HVCC collaborates with Hamburg authorities, including Hamburg Port Authority, to ensure smooth and reliable shipping traffic on the Elbe. Thanks to our dedicated HVCC team, a container ship can save up to 20 tonnes of fuel and 60 tonnes of CO2 on a single journey between Rotterdam and Hamburg. If you share our passion for seafaring and the Port of Hamburg, join our HVCC team and become part of our journey toward a sustainable future! #HHLA #logistics #hamburg

#Meet Sascha 👋🏻 Sascha works as a craftsman on the quayside equipment team at our climate-neutral* Container Terminal Altenwerder in Hamburg. Together with his team, he maintains and repairs the equipment that is being used here. His workplace is around 50 metres above the ground. In good weather, he can see Hamburg’s TV tower from the jib of each of the 14 container gantry cranes he works on. In all weathers, he climbs to the electrical control room, the "brain" of the container gantry crane to check status and error messages that the servers and monitors display. In his highly specialised work, he often operates mechanically and increasingly electrically. In order to do so, he receives continuous training. In addition to his own work, Sascha also accompanies external companies for example, when they adjust the track of a trolley or carry out welding work. Before Sascha joined us at HHLA in 2004, he had never worked with computers. In the meantime, he has grown along with the devices from their earliest days to the retrofitting stage. #HHLA #logistics #port #teamwork *More information on our website.

📸 Throwback to an insightful event: Last week, the General Assembly of our Clean Port & Logistics hydrogen innovation cluster took place in Hamburg. Together with partners across different branches, we at HHLA work on exploring the integration of hydrogen-powered equipment in port logistics. We shared findings and innovative concepts, engaged in discussions about ongoing activities and reflected on the progress made, such as the opening of the test field for hydrogen-powered port operations at our Container Terminal Tollerort in Hamburg. We are looking forward to seeing more innovations in action and to continuing our mission to decarbonise the logistics industry 🚀 #HHLA #hydrogen #logistics #innovation

📸 Behind the Scenes of the opening of our test field for hydrogen-powered port operations and the corresponding hydrogen refuelling station at our Container Terminal Tollerort in Hamburg. The dull weather during the opening ceremony could not dampen the excitement of having reached this important milestone on the way to decarbonising logistics. 🌟 On the test field we will test and optimise concepts for operation, safety, maintenance, refuelling, and supply of heavy goods vehicles. The refuelling station is open to the public, offering other companies the chance to test climate-friendly transport solutions. 🌱💚 #HHLA #logistics #hydrogen #innovation

Today we reached a major milestone toward decarbonising logistics 🚀 We have opened the first test field for hydrogen-powered port operations and a corresponding hydrogen refuelling station at our Container Terminal Tollerort in Hamburg. In collaboration with partners from our Clean Port & Logistics cluster, we are testing the reliability of hydrogen for heavy goods vehicles during operations. Equipment like straddle carriers, empty container stackers, forklift trucks, reach stackers, tractor units, and trucks can now be efficiently filled with green hydrogen at 350 bar. The refuelling station is open to the public, offering other companies the chance to test climate-friendly transport solutions. 🌱💚 Since 2022, we have been collaborating with over 40 partner companies worldwide to develop market-ready hydrogen-powered vehicles and equipment. The concepts for operation, safety, maintenance, refuelling, and supply are now tested and optimised at the test field. #HHLA #logistics #hydrogen #innovation

🌞 We love sunshine - especially when it helps us reach our goal of achieving climate neutrality across the entire group by 2040. Our rail subsidiary METRANS Group has integrated a cutting-edge photovoltaic plant into the energy mix earlier this year. The 12 MW plant, located in Schleswig-Holstein, will cover approximately 10 % of the annual energy consumption of the locomotives in Germany. Railway operations have already been operating on 100% green electricity. By now generating a portion of this electricity ourselves, we’re taking our commitment to the next level 🚀 🌱 🤝 The project is powered by a partnership with ENERPARC AG and its subsidiary Sunnic Lighthouse GmbH who will operate the plant exclusively for us. The rail power supplier, Stadtwerke Tübingen GmbH will seamlessly integrate the electricity into the energy mix. #HHLA #sustainability #solar #rail
