Throughout the world, a significant underrepresentation of women in sciences, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) has been observed for years. Evidence today shows that only one in three scientists is a woman! Women in Digital Switzerland is proud to support UNESCO and Gender Scan in their committed to promoting opportunities for women and girls pursuing scientific and technological studies and careers. Toward that goal, they are conducting a new survey aimed at identifying structural inequalities and societal norms limiting their full participation in these fields. Don't we know it! In Switzerland, the situation for working parents also has its unique characteristics. Swiss legislation mandates a minimum of 14 weeks of maternity leave at 80% pay. However, paternity leave is limited, with new fathers entitled to just two weeks of paid leave. This often places a disproportionate burden on new mothers to juggle work and family responsibilities and leaving many Swiss women facing career obstacles. Building a strong support network, both professionally and personally, is essential. The cultural emphasis on family and community in Switzerland can provide significant support to working parents. #parentalequalityswitzerland
