Last week, the COP28 UAE and COP29 Azerbaijan Presidencies, along with the World Food Programme, International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and FAO, gathered key partners to mobilise climate action and finance for fragile and conflict-affected states ahead of COP29. This high-level meeting emphasised the critical need for sustained climate finance and support for these countries. Our REAP partner, GSMA recently released a report on Enhancing inclusion in mobile-enabled risk communications: Lessons from South Africa. This research focuses on how mobile-enabled risk communications about weather hazards can be more inclusive. New REAP Paper Launch at the Understanding Risk Conference! We are happy to announce the launch of our latest paper, "The Roles of State and Non-State Actors in Early Warning and Early Action" presented at the Understanding Risk Conference this week and supported by Practical Action and Met Office. In an era of escalating climate crises, governments are increasingly challenged to protect their vulnerable populations. *NEW* Exploring Resilience in a Changing World: Insights from the World Risk Poll Report 🌍 The newly released Lloyd's Register Foundation World Risk Poll’s resilience report, "Resilience in a Changing World," sheds light on our global preparedness for future shocks. By surveying perceptions of risk across 142 countries, the report addresses critical questions about our collective ability to withstand disasters and conflicts. Notably, the most vulnerable populations—those over 50, the unemployed, and low-income households—consistently score lower on the Resilience Index.
