🌍Biovision advocates for women's rights and poverty reduction 💪 Biovision, along with other organizations, has made an official appeal to the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (#HLPF), urging #policymakers to better protect #women and #girls from #poverty. Our appeal calls for the dismantling of structural #discrimination, ensuring #genderequality, and more decisively combating poverty. 📢 As an advisory body to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (#Ecosoc), Biovision has co-signed this appeal. This status allows us to contribute to the work of the UN and share our perspectives. The HLPF takes place from the 8th to the 17th of July, 2024. This appeal is a crucial reminder for the forum to enforce the achievement of sustainable development goals and to strengthen the rights of women and girls worldwide.

🏦 Climate finance is high up on the agenda at this year’s major climate conferences. More money must flow into sustainable food systems to avert the climate and ecological crisis. 🤝🏽In so many parts of the world food production takes place on the frontline of the climate crisis. It’s critical that a food systems transition uplifts communities and their livelihoods, protects the climate and prevents biodiversity loss. 🌱A growing partnership of philanthropies aims to unlock finance to accelerate and scale agroecological farming. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗼𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮: 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗦𝗕𝟲𝟬 “The very fact that #agroecology is now being promoted in national policies and by governments, both in the North and in the South […] is a testament that the time for agroecology has arrived”. This statement by Oliver Oliveros, Agroecology Coalition at our SB60 side event “𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝗲𝗹é𝗺” on June 3rd at the Bonn Climate Change Conference, reflects well the current developments. 📍🗺️ With the clear roadmap defined by the Sharm el-Sheikh joint work on implementation of climate action on agriculture and food security (SSJWA) at SB60 in Bonn, agroecology offers a pathway for holistic and effective climate action within the UNFCCC. Additionally, the other two Rio Conventions—CBD and UNCCD are also gaining momentum. How are countries preparing for the milestones ahead? How is agroecology being financed around the globe and which role should climate finance play? Country- and civil society representatives from the global North and South shed some light on promising developments as well as persisting challenges. 📽️ 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴: https://lnkd.in/e-dBeuhB 📰 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝗲𝗹é𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 – 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗼𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮 - https://lnkd.in/ddd-j67E Agroecology Coalition, IPES-Food, WWF, Global Alliance for the Future of Food and South Asian Forum for Environment, SAFE
